curses, foiled...again

not sure if this has been asked already, but why can't I get shantotto to give me the quest? I'm rank 3, I did the first quest on this line, and I've talked to the other NPC who said that he's seeing spinning or something like that. Am I missing something?

Do you possibly have either or both of the quests: Making Headlines (http://ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Making_Headlines) and/or Blast from the Past (http://ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Blast_from_the_Past) active? These may prevent you from progressing with the particular quest-line.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately, those quests are not active, the closest quest I have is back to the beginning, but that doesn't stop it, does it?

Also, shantotto keeps asking if I've seen anyone do the skeleton dance.

If Shantotto is asking that, try talking to Hiwon-Biwon, and then to Shantotto again. If she will then say something along the lines of: "our peeping tom has been enjoying that Skeleton Dance Curse I placed on him", things are looking OK.

After that you may need to change area, and talk to her again to get dialogue with options.

do you'd think I'd have to do the quest that the NPC offers?

Edit: that would be a "no", did making headlines, still nothing for the guy. I think I may have screwed up here.

Aha! Seems I didn't quite process the part where you mentioned rank too well. Sorry for that. Could have solved the mystery perhaps a little faster if I did.
