I am trying to set up a Gamepad to use on my PC for FFXI. I cannot seem to find any documentation on how to do this.
I am attempting to set up a logitech gamepad F310.

I too use a logitech pad for FFXI on PC. All I had to do was use the windows drivers and then go into the FF config utility. Click "enable gamepad" and then through the utility you set the controls.

Let me give you some advice, get rid of the logitech gamepads, they tend to break easily after a couple months the wire going into the controller will become loose and cause they gamepad to disconnect alot. Get a xbox 360 controller, they are compatible with pc. If you get a wired controller just search wired xbox 360 controller drivers on internet and will be given chioces to chose from, I use the microsoft site for mine. If you get the wireless controller you will have to buy the usb wireless device that is sold around the xbox accessories items. I went thru about 5 logitech controllers in a years time because of the loose wire issue they all had, I have been using the 360 controller now for 2 years and have not replaced it since.

Only usually happens if you poorly store etc them..
NEVER roll the wire around the joypad, this is the usual cause.

I never rolled the wire around controller, when I am done playing it sat flat on my desk and no one else touched it. The controllers are poorly made that is why they cost $9.99 - $19.99.

Not meaning to stay off topic since you're asking for help in setting up a controller..... However, I too had similar problems with Logitech controllers wearing out too quickly. I never wrapped or rolled the wires either. In addition to the wire connection problems I have also had troubles with the left analog stick. After a few months of usage it would stop working in the up direction.
After going through three logitech game-pads I ended up purchasing an Xbox controller that was compatible with my laptop. The main reason I chose the Xbox controller was so I would have a total of four for the kids and I to use while gaming on the 360.

I originally played waaay back when FFXI was released on PS2. I had to unfortunately repurchase the game steam. I was lucky to be able to get my main character back from when I stopped playing (56 RDM/WHM). My Wife decided to come back and play with me tho she had to open a new account as her original character was on my account.
If some one knows how to access the Config utility so i can use my Logitec pad that would be great. I did purchase a ps3 pad as well and am learning to use "MotionJoy" to set it up. If I can get both to Work then I will set up one on my Wifes PC. It should make the game much more user friendly for Her.
I have to Say It Feels Great to be playing this again. I originally Left because on Hours spent in Juno not being able to Find Grps. However Playing Alongside my Wife Is a lot more Fun I like to see How Far we can Get Just the 2 of us.
Heya Rallyv. I had the same problem. I used the F310 myself for months on end, and loath and behold the wire mishap happend. I tossed that one and then got the exact same controller (another f310 because they worked for my pc games as-well-as ffxi/ffxiv. Well now after i plugged in my new f310, the LT-RT's *L2-R2* buttons wont work. ffxi doesnt even recognize them as buttons. ffxiv does however. it's odd i know, but maybe this is the cause of the previous ffxi update that was out a bit ago? seems to be word around the net and these forums. hopefully SE can produce a fix for it as the F310 game-pad the is the only game-pad I have used, and knows works well with nearly all my PC games.
