Can these be made more functional? Also, make them say On when they are on and Off when they are off
I hate that you can't have other players damage displayed on screen only and your own damage displayed in the chat log. If you select the "Both" option for damage display, you should then be able to customise what is shown further using the chat filters.
A new setting for each of the chat filters would be a really nice addition when you are set to display on both screen and log.
Ie. Damage Display = "Both"
Chat Filters
Damage done by you = "Log" - Displayed in the log
Damage done by party = "Screen" - Displayed only on screen
Damage done by others = "Off" -

I think we're going to be waiting for them to implement the new UI system. It showed having several different log windows, so you could in theory have different outputs to each window.

Hello!
Thank you for the suggestion, Thorbean. Unfortunately, from a system functionality perspective, it would be very difficult to create a setting to specify a particular type of damage (you, party, others) to display in the chat log or screen. However, as mentioned by Saevel, we will be revamping our UI and adding some new features for you to enjoy. Once we begin rolling those out, we'd like you all to offer up more suggestions and feedback!

I was gonna write a lot of stuff but then I decided to just say
What Thorbean said.
I really hope functionality such as what he described will be implemented in the new UI. It is something I have been missing since I started playing the game.

While we are at it, can we get skillchain damage to appear in the log. For some reason it doesn't appear when if you swap gear during a weapon skill...

Does the chat filter have electrolytes? Cause that's what the players need.

On the subject of damage display, is it possible to make skillchain information display in the log even when someone cancels out the animation with a gearswap right after they close one?
I can't even remember the last time I've seen skillchain dmg display in my log, since decent damage output requires you to switch to a WS-gearset, and then back to your TP-gain set right after the WS goes off.

:/ i would just like it if I could make the messages that display when buffs you cast on other people wear off more apparent and distinct from other messages. I was never able to figure out what that fell under in order to change the color.

What about having the "enemy resists XXXX completely" shown in the log all the time. That would be a welcome addition as it's pretty much useless to everyone who has damage set to on screen. Add libra's info to that list too.

The chat filter is fortified with what the world needs!

Well I was thinking more along the lines of redesigning it and removing the damage display option from the gameplay section and just setting up the chat filters as follows:
Log Screen Filter
[] [] Player damage
This way you check either one it dispalys, if you check both it displays on both, if you pick none it doesnt display at all simple.
It is essentially the same idea though
