Hey guys and gals, RDM is my primary and favorite job throughout all the FF game series. At the below thread Im compiling a wishlist, with Red Mage highlighted, let me know what you think, and offer up ideas here if you will so I can incorporate them into the idea! Thanks!!!

There is no point, they'll take you ideas and give them to SCH, GEO and RNF.

There is no point, they'll take you ideas and give them to SCH, GEO and RNF.Probably the most likely outcome. Sad bit is that with the advent of SCH and buffs to WHM, the lack of assumed roles for RDM should mean no expectations upon the job whatsoever--there has never been a better time for the devs to do something great with it, and yet they are content to let it languish and leave players of the job hanging by a thread or fighting amongst themselves.

Your spell list seems unrealistic for RDM, particularly the RDM both advertised and established in XI. Toad, Mini, and Ultima always felt to me befitting of a more dedicated caster, where RDM is more hybridized. I can see these three going to BLM, not RDM. Vanish is interesting defensively, but I can't imagine that on RDM as opposed to SCH or WHM.

S-E has already expressed a blanket disapproval of native AoE for RDM, and if they're going to stunt party support, I'd much rather avoid party/alliance targetable spells. Though something like the Leap suggestion would be nice as a self-cast movement-speed+ spell. The same goes for AoE enfeebles; if they're not going to make support viable for us, they won't do it for party combat. And, after a fashion, I'm fine with this.

Oil, while powerful, is redundant. There already exist spells that lower defense to fire, in Enblizzard, Hyoton, and Freeze. Why would we need another, for fire damage in specific?

Confuse and Curse would make nice enfeebles (frankly, I've been hoping for Confuse for years), Faith and Brave being nice additions too.

I always felt like if RDM gained all of SCH's JA's and spells it would be a more complete class and that if THF had all of DNC's abilities(but renamed/diff animations) it would be a more complete class. Instead of fleshing out RDM and THF's roles better and giving them depth and usefulness, they took things that were planned for them and created new jobs with their own set of problems.

RDM would have been awesome with strategems, regens, black/white magic optimizations and helix spells. THF would have been a better adapted support DD keeping their SATA,TH and other abilities but adding in steps and flourish abilities to further enhance themselves and bewilder their enemies.

Yup, and GEO/RNF will further kill RDM, PLD and SCH off. When they further add stuff to them that should have instead gone on other jobs.

If people were still hoping for some AoE support powers for RDM, they will likely be dashed with the introduction of GEO.

But then, I suppose my lingering hopes of further En-spell promotion for RDM will be dashed with the introduction of RNF. :/

What might be fun would be for a piece of gear (preferably a ring) that augments temper, and makes it triple attack (same activation rate based on skill.) and possibly some other major autoattack based powerups. Sure big weaponskills are flashy, but imagine if we could keep up with or surpass monk's raw DOT power? Could be fun.

Even in a new type of Artifact it would be cool.

Could do it something like half potency, so at 500 skill it'd be: Double Attack 20% - Triple Attack 10%

So long as we are talking about 25% Double + 12.5% Triple, then sure. I'd rather have better Enspells....who knows if that is even on the radar.

ib4 BLU gets a 'Sabre' spell which gives self multistrike 10% Triple Attack from unbridled learning in SoA expansion
