Can't get chocobo egg

I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if there's something legitimately wrong with this so I figured I would ask.
I traded Finbarr in Upper Jeuno two cards and a plan I got from him. I got the cutscene and all that stuff but then I never got an egg. It's been a real life day now and all he says is something about wondering when the egg will hatch. Back when I did this years ago I thought I just got an egg from him like an hour later or something. It's been a long time so I'm not sure if things have changed or I missed a step or if this is a glitch of some sort. Anyone have any ideas?

We're sorry if this has caused you any inconvenience. It seems that a certain amount of time needs to pass in order to obtain the egg. Can you try back with Finbarr and see if you are able to obtain the egg? Please let us know if you are still having an issue, or it has been resolved.
