Hi, I recently had to wipe my harddrive and when i reinstalled FFXI from steam and opened up POL I had to register my info like normal. The problem is, normally it asks for SE ID and one-time password if applicable at the very bottom of the page. All it asks for is my POL info and that's it. It let's me log into POL but won't start the game (probably because POL isnt asking for that info in the first place) How do i fix this?

Do you know why it is called steam, cause it is a steaming pile of dooty. I have mentioned in another post that someone made about steam they do not keep their dlc updated for alot of online games, especially pol for ffxi, they are using the old xp version. If you are using a vista/7 OS then goto pol website and download the patch there for pol. That should fix the issue.

No they don't. They use the Abyssea version which is NOT for XP only.

As for the OP, the PlayOnline viewer installed bugged out, you'll need to reinstall it.

As Daniel_Hatcher said, the Steam version is compatible with win7 and such. What one should do when using Steam, is use Steam, and only Steam install. Bad things can, and will happen if installing the stand-alone version. ^^;

If possible, I personally would suggest using another media for installing the game (you can still use the codes from the Steam purchase), but that's me!

Now more about the issue: after you installed PlayOnline viewer, did it actually update itself? In any case, since it should be the Steam install, I imagine it should already have those options there... hm, I never actually installed via Steam to see for myself.

But yeah, there's some thoughts added to the re-installing idea.

Good luck!
