Game appearance question

Hi all,
New returning player here from a long time ago. Before I even start learning how the games changed and asking questions like other new players here, I was wondering...

I'm playing on my PC and since I logged into FFXI for the first time, the game looks strange almost like the resolution is not correct. I set it to 16:9 yet it still appears as 4:3. Further it crops both sides of my wide screen monitor. And as a result the game does not look very good.

I've looked all over for other settings. Can anyone help me?

Did you change your texture settings etc in the ffxi config? You have to have the game off to change it. It should be in same folder as playonline i believe
