View Full Version : Suggestion: /check sturdy pyxides to "peer through the cracks"!

Hey guys, wouldn't it be cool if we could just ctrl+c to peer through the cracks instead of having to go through that pyxis-menu?
I think it would be awesome. You could just ctrl+c then whatever macro your forbiddenkey is on. It would make the process that more efficient.
I second this. Yes please. @@;

Only if using it on a mimic makes it immediately attack you.

Sure, why not.
-edit-
Oh yeah, it should probably still require you to be within 6 yalms for it to work.

This is a good idea.

Been thinking a bit more about it, and just going to post this to pre-empt potential developer excuses as to why they can't do it.
Currently, the pyxis-menu allows us to select each item in detail, which probably would be a bit tricky to make happen when we /checked them. However, the chest-/check doesn't have to be as in-depth as the actual menu is. It would just need to give us a quick overview.
We don't need to be able to select the revitaliser to see exactly what it does when we /check the chest, we just need to know that there is a revitaliser in there. We don't need to know the exact augments of the diamond ring, just that there is an augmented diamond ring in there. We don't need to get a list over all the stats of the Unkai sune-ate, we just need to know that there is a pair in the box.
Knowing this will instantly let us know if it's worth to open it instantly, check the items more closely, or just destroy the chest (or ignore it), and we can be given all the information we need about this in just a few lines of text in the chat log.
Quick, simple, condensed information, that's all we need.
Also, if the development bros are worried about high server load if lots of people spam /check for like 10 chests within 5 seconds, they could just add slight cooldown on it, so that you can't check chests faster than one chest per... 3-4 seconds? Or something. That would still be faster and more user friendly than entering the chest's menu. Just return "a command error occured" if a player does it faster than the servers like.

why not just add what the chest is to part of the discription when we check it?
This chest contains a frimilar stone. What would you like to do? [option list]

Love the idea, OP! They definitely need to streamline this process. You have my wholehearted support!
Off topic:
WHY IN THE HELL AM I ABLE TO USE JOB ABILITIES ON A FRIGGIN' TREASURE CHEST(pyxis)? Please remove that impossibly pointless "feature" while you guys are at it.

Oh, that's easy. You can use spells on it to mark it for your minions to open the bugger while it's sitting in a crowd of it's siblings. Also, it's fun casting Fire on them if their contents sucks, then destroy it.
(Actually, all pyxis are really mimics, but most are dormant.)

Good evening,
We had previously looked into ways to quickly examine the contents of sturdy pyxides such as using the /check command to peer through the cracks. However, there are quite a few aspects that would make it very difficult to implement this system wise. Therefore, we must set this concept aside for now and we hope for your understanding.

At least "not now because complicated" is a lot better than "no because balance."

Wouldn't mind it if Blue chests had 3 different graphics for temp items/time/soothing light, if red chests had a different graphic for each kind of light they had inside, and if gold chests had a different graphic for temp items, items and powerful items.

That's not a bad idea either.
They could make the smallers chest contain familiar stone fragments, exp and cruor, then add larger blue chests for temp items and intense soothing light. Generally, we all want all the cruor and time extensions as we can get, so with these being in one kind of blue chest, we would be able to just pop these as fast as we can without checking them. If a big blue chest popped, however, we'd know that they could contain ISL or temps, and popping them would be done when it was most tactical to do so.
Maybe the red chests could be still be red, but with a glowing effect of the same color as the light inside them. The strength of the light could be reflected in the size of the chest. You could put the same glow effect as you use on avatars on them, perhaps. After all, when you check them, the game tells you that "the chest is aglow with an insertcolor light". If it truly is aglow with such a light, why can't the game just show us the glow graphically?

Why not make it peer through the cracks automatically?
Whenever you examine a chest, it could say the same dialogue as if you were to peer, without ever selecting anything in the menu. I don't see why it wasn't done this way to begin with.

To be honest, the big blue chest idea for intense soothing light is fantastic. That would alleviate much of the frustration of people mistakenly popping those when other people need them.
As far as red chests are concerned, I think big red chests for Ebon, Gold, and Silver would make sense, and normal sized for Azure, Pearl, Amber and Ruby would be okay. Sure I would also prefer a glowing effect representing the color but it seems like that might be too difficult to implement with everything else being worked on.
I think with the big blue and red chests, people would at least have an idea what is inside, similar to how large gold ones might contain key items, or very good temps, or very good augmented items.
