Yes. Yes it is on purpose, it's in preparation for the new expansion "seekers of adoulin" coming out later this year. The 2 new jobs were already announced at Vana fest this year. See link below.

Are you trolling? I'm well aware of the expansion. And if 2013 is your "this year" then I suggest you have a psych eval. It even says 2013 on the page you linked.

It is for the new jobs. The test server is already showing "Geomancer" and "Rune Fencer" there instead of "???". So what if it's a year away?
Considering the test server just had the jobs listed without the question marks, yeah its probably on purpose.
So I'm the only one who thinks it wierd to have the ???'s there even though the jobs won't be released for over a year? Ok. Carry on.

they did it last time and they will remain ??? till they are unlocked via god knows what torture SE has cooked up. ^.~
I doubt they'll make you wait till November of 2013. Especially because they're checking to see how much we want the expansion for new content, and how bored older players are. ^.~

Eh somewhat, I'm used to changing jobs fast, now I have to hit up 1 more time for SCH, DNC, and other jobs down there. :P

What does me being an admin at a site that most people here have admitted they don't care for anyway have anything to do with this post? Over here I'm joe blow. I just find it ridiculous that they would think I haven't heard of the expansion already.
For the record, I'm not upset about it, my reaction was more of a "oh that's curious" than anything else. It simply threw me for a loop when I went to change my sub to DNC and there was another slot below it when there wasn't one before.

I thought it was odd as we won't see the jobs for 6 months at least, but not bad and I'd love to hear an explanation as to how it is 'unprofessional'.
If anything they probably have them there so that the few people who don't know about SoA will begin to ask questions.

this is nothing new. SE did similar stuff just befor every expac that added jobs (guessing its been years) And they did it for synergy.

What I'm wondering though: Where was it implied that (s)he was anyone important or well known? "I'm well aware about the expansion" could be said by pretty much 95% of the player base who keep up with the games current affairs... If anything, you afforded the poster the implied 'fame'
Still don't see the point of this thread. Two new jobs coming, it makes sense that two sets of triple Q's will be added to the job list. Let's be honest, when it comes to development, prioritising has never been one of the team's strong points.

If I made comments you agreed with but used the same tone or worse, I guarantee you wouldn't have an issue with how I said things. Now maybe you'd like to stop the personal attacks and get back on topic.
As for them adding the ??? already, I guess they're just working things in to prepare for the new expansion as they go. At work we went ahead and pushed out a shortcut to our new web based record system long before it was ready to go live. It caused a few questions like this, but we wanted to be ahead of the game.

One could perhaps think of it as a 'place-holder', more or less of what Camiie was saying I guess.
Something that is easy to remove/modify and which could possibly show future issues before it would become an actual issue.
On the test-server the job list at Status -> Job Levels is also different in size (or at least was the last time I checked, and seems like it can't be extended in a downwards motion but instead, it is wider (or was, haven't checked for a while now) though of course this does not explain why they're sort of there in the 'real' client at all).
They could also just enjoy teasing you all. ^^

Oh, and it's entirely possible for someone not to know of the expansion, hence another someone mentioning it (serious or not), leading to the “of course I would know about it” leading to the “how should someone know you know”, you know?
Or at least that's how I see it.

well least you will be well practiced for when the expansion does come out. myself i dont care the ??? are there already. its not that big of a deal.
Also, maybe it in preparation for soemthing UI related comin down the pipes. like how they did spell icons ect. i wonder how much will they change? equip screens and other menus?
While we are on the topic of UI updates for the job menu would like to ask if the dev team plans on adding in new macro books for RNF (not sure if thats the right three letter) and GEO, i really enjoy having separate macro sets for different jobs even though i do not use all 10 macro pallets within a book for 1 job any more. still nice to have the separation.
Also to address the OP why does it really matter we know they are coming, even if its over a year out is it that much of a deal that you had to make a thread about it?

It reminds me of when Aht urhgan was coming out were we had a few quests before the expansion that did nothing to help us that we thought, i bet there going set up the quest line earlier then normal then we get to unlocked them after few quest out in seekers. That way they build up the drama for the seekers. i think it would be crazy if they allowed us to unlocked now but can not play them lol.

They did that with Rise of the Zillart, they did it with Treasure of Aht Urgan, and so they did with Wings of the Godess... :)
Only now there's a promise of UI revamp.
