View Full Version : 2 Things to streamline Magian Trials

I'll just jump right in here:
1) Would it be possible to remove the animations for 'obtaining' and 'completing' a magian trial, ie getting hit in the head with stars and getting hit with hearts? While these animations were exceedingly cute the first, I don't know 5 times, they're just cause for more wasted button spamming after about 100 trials.
Possible solutions: Make it so only the first and last trials result in these animations.
Make it so you can 'toggle' the animations on and off, like skipping a mission cutscene or some such. Like making it an option if you just talk to the magian moogle he asks if you wish to hear his instructions on every trial.
2) Running back to the magian moogle himself when doing weapon trials.
I know this is a relatively minor annoyance, this completing a trial, stopping everything you're doing, leaving the zone your next mob may be in, running back to ru'lude and running ALL the way back to the zone you were JUST in, and having your weather wear off while you were doing all this just to get annoyed by stars and hearts, but i think we could stream line it just a tad.
Possible Solutions: Make it so when you go to choose your trial you are actually choosing the 'path' of the trial, not a single trial. For instance, you go the magian box and choose an axe, trade to moogle and he asks what trial you want to undertake, you choose the one that ends with farsha, instead of coming back to him between every NM etc, it commits you to that end, automatically updating your magian log to the next NM set in that path, or item acquisition, so on and so forth. For trials which diverse at certain points and you're not sure which path you want to take, it could be possible to pick at which point along the trial you want to stop and re-evaluate which way you want to go. The moogle already knows all the possible divergences and what trial ends at what.
I don't know if these 2 things would even be possible, but they would save a lot of people time and warp scrolls.

It can and that's not up to you. This would be awesome. The animations are retarded and running back is just an arbitrary time waster.

There's a reason why they removed all that extra dialogue from OP and runic portal warps. That reason is because it was no longer necessary and had become an unnecessary waste of time.

They moved the OP NPC in sandy 2x so we didn't have to run across the zone to interact with him. Why do i have to run back to ru'lude every time i want to finish a trial.

what does this have to do with anything? I'm not asking to just skip to the end, i'm not asking for a reduction in trial numbers or even increased credit per kill (see the update about weather being 5 instead of 1, yeah i did about 20 trials before they added THAT nifty little feature). I am asking that they make it so instead of 'kill 50 beasts in Cape Terrigan > run/warp whatever back to ru'lude > spend 10 mins of the day getting hit with crap > run back to cape terrigan > kill 10 lizards > day is over' it is changed to 'kill 50 beasts in cape terrigan > call magian moogle through the book, he says congrats updating trial path > kill lizards now > oh hey, there are lizards here > kill 30 lizards > day is over' I didn't even add in the part about buying a warp scroll for when you're done or the day is over which burns your time up too, or running back to where you need to warp from. Magian trials were introduced so that the 'spend 5,000 hours camping an NM with 40 other people competing' would be eliminated, they even changed it so any kill of certain amounts of damage or any pet would count(am i the only one who remembers BEFORE that patch?). Why not this adjustment? All it does is make it less of a time sink, and we all know we could use less time sinks.

No, it can't be done, because every trial changes the weapon or augment involved, and that cannot be done while the weapon is in the player's inventory. And that means that you will be stuck with a Chopper until you completed the final trial for Farsha, down to the last of the 3000 riftcinders. And there isn't enough room in the trial log to record that many trials, neither is the amount of space in your inventory sufficient to hold all those drops for the upgrades.
The total time 'wasted' on running back to Jeuno and watching the cutscenes for EVERY trial you ever plan to do is less then the time 'wasted' sitting in Jeuno waiting for people to gather for voidwatch.
Face it, all you want is a JP button, and the test server has that. You want to enter abyssea at level 30, and exit with everything from +2 relics to +2 emps, salvage and VW armor, fully upgraded relic, mythic AND empyrean weapons. And you want that within a few hours, because let's face it, you got better things to do then to play a game.

Removing the animations would be enough; their the cost of most of the time wasted. Or finding a way to allow us to trade and upgrade via the magian specs would be nice instead.
But I'm sure if all of us wanted that we would be on the test server already, we don't. We want to make the accomplishments ourselves, for our real characters. We just want all the little pockets of time we waste to be removed.

It could be reduced to once per zone entrance. That way, if you are starting multiple trials, you only see the cutscene once.

And I don't have an agenda, since I don't see the need to have anything changed in this debate. You on the other hand, are trying to convince people that a few seconds of 'wasted' playtime is worth overhauling the entire working trial system.
In short, you failed to convince me of the need or benefits of changing this.

The only thing they're really asking for is to remove the animation and to be able to trade to the magian spectacles or something to move on to the next weapon. It's the same amount of work; it just wouldn't require running all the way to Ru'Lude Gardens to do it. I'm not sure why your so adamant aout it but that's basically it. No more silly animation and not having to report to Jeuno everytime.

We know SE can remove items. We know SE can create items. So why does it need to be more than this? This is a proper argument because we know SE has those capabilities. It's you who says it's impossible with no evidence.

If you had no agenda you would have said "it's impossible" and stopped there. You wouldn't have said all that garbage about the JP button and that we want everything handed to us. That's you being butthurt because you feel the game is getting too easy (which has been obvious for a while judging by some of your other posts).

I wasted hours already running to Jeuno and back and trading shit and watching the animation all the time. Unless you mean just the animation, in which case it wouldn't require any reworking at all and which I'd also be perfectly happy with.
