It was a concept in 3rd edition that was rediculously over powered and SE should only implement something such as this as a last ditch effort. (A bad idea I now, but still an entertaining concept.) More then likely you will have to finish a quest similar to the Maat fight on each job inorder to set it as a Gestalt, this would include which ever job you're setting as your "main."

But there's how it works;

The jist of it? Basicaly it can be boiled down to having two main jobs, but you only get which ever skill is higher.
We'll use THF and RNG as our example. First the breakdown.
THF skills are as follows.
Club: E
Dagger: A-
H2H: E
Sword: D
Archery: C-
Marksmanship: C+
Throwing: D
Evasion: A+
Parrying: A-
Shield: F
RNG Skills are as follows.
Axe: B-
Club: E
Dagger: B-
Sword: D
Archery: A-
Marksmanship: A-
Throwing: C-
Evasion: E
Now for our Gestalt THF/RNG skills.
Axe: B-
Club: E
Dagger: A-
Sword: D
Archery: A-
Marksmanship: A-
Throwing: C-
Evasion: A+
Parrying: A-
Shield: F

Making basicaly a whole new job and allowing for more game play customization.
Remember this all being an after the fact discussion or something that will never exists. Still entertaining though.

And don't say WHM/BLM would nerf RDM because they still wont have any enfeebling magic. lol

This could be a good idea but maybe only if there's some restrictions on it. Allow it to only last for a limited amount of time and can be activated after a certain amount of time. So with this concept then you'd basically be on two main jobs at once? How would equipping specific job-type gear work though? Would it only take on the first job's stuff or can you equip both job's gear?

It would apply to gear as if both were a main.
I like the time idea, like an old school limit break for TP.

Not the topic, but how about this?
If you have the apropriate job level to equip the gear, you can.
For example, A 90whm/45bst would be able to use fish oil broth because thise BST is high enough to equip it.

I like the idea. Anything new to shake it up. Plus it'd be super fun to tinker with the possibilities. It SHOULD be overpowered, it's level 99. It ain't goin' any higher.

could go some where with this, and as max level will be 99 at some point, an old idea I has might wor as well (but not as powerful, more of a just for the hell of it)

sub-subjobs ;p

example

99DRG/49DNC/24WAR

You would have your normal stuff as a DRG/DNC, but then also have all abilities of a WAR up to 24

I used to have this long explanation of it, but I can not find it........and I need to go to bed ;p

RNG fun fact: We have the same evasion as a BLM.
Which is so unfair. :(

We should get an ability that helps us mitigate damage ala Enmity Douse/Mana Wall. Camoflouge is just lol.

Not that this is really the same thing but /BLU affords stat customization in ways other sub-jobs cannot. The limitation, of course, is the lower sub-job restriction on spell selection. If only you could cheat like Maat and have a max lvl sub-job...
