i've actually had decent luck finding base mats in the starter nations. With any luck, merging the AH's will give it a little shot in the arm. I have easy means of getting to each nation's AH.. but it's still a bit of a drag to bounce around before I craft.

Our ah was pretty well stocked with the usual stuff, tools, scrolls, food, high level gear/etc not a lot of low level gear or crafting items though.

SE is gonna have to change the timestamp from when theyshut the servers down.. If the just turn the servers on and allow everyone to login right away to much will have changed. Yes the Ah will be empty, the beastmen will have taken over every place & everyone will have a ton of stones. They are gonna have the fix this by returning the game to the same state it was when they shut the servers down & then allow us to start from there. This means even though the real time will be current the Vana' Diel time will have to be the same date/year/time that it was when the servers were shutdown.

I rarely make anything anymore unless I need it then I have to farm mats because AH never has any mats for anything anymore. AH on Fenrir only has plenty of one thing and thats crystals and there over priced at that :/

shehei is very nice to sell at ah now that rmts seem to have gone away. abyssea seems to use a lot of them ^^
I have lots of time so I prefer to farm and fish my materials for them. In fact I even leveled fishing up to make the black ink. lol. honestly it seems to me that it is very satisfying to make an item from start to finish.

The funny thing about all the complaints about no low lv gear in AH is that most of the decent/good low lv gear is from CP, questing, or just plain NM hunting relatively weak nms in the first place.
Sure you might as some trouble with an Empy pin and perhaps the rings/ear/cheapspikenecklace but most of the complaints about low lv gear are nonsense to me as one never NEEDED the Ah to even get the decent/passable items in the first place.( circa 2003 I guess?)

I figured all of that would just pick up where it left off. Since the servers are off, the status of all the zones are frozen. The conquest tally can't happen, so nothing should change. That's just my assumption.

Most of you may have read the follow-up on PlayOnline news regarding the servers. (for those of you that haven’t here is a link: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news20547.shtml)

First of all I just wanted to say from myself and on behalf of the rest of the Community Team, thank you so much for being patient and understanding in these tragic times. We’re really impressed and moved by how strongly you all support Japan and your efforts to donate.

With the servers being down, many of you are wondering what’s going on with Vana’diel time and your plants, traverser stones, besieged, etc. Pretty much, just think of this as really long server maintenance, which means that unfortunately your plants will be withered, but the number of traverser stones Joachim sets aside for you will have increased, and besiege will pick up where it was left off.

We will give you updates on the situation and again thank you very much for your kind words and compassion.There was an answer a day or so ago.
