Did anyone ever think all this bickering over if relics should be best or not is worth it? What if they do have a meltdown emits an EMP and erases all the data?
I do not mean to be cruel on the situation or anything, I am just wondering if people think there are more meaningful things out there to worry about like the people over there and such.
In other words, don't you feel a bit guilty you are able to ague pointless things when there are so many problems over there?
What would you think if new madrid fault gave a 9.0 quake?

Reactor meltdowns do not emit the EMPs that you are thinking of, besides, the servers are too far away.

This^. Nuclear Reactor =/= Nuclear Bomb. The data is fine. That said, the current situation is pretty darn bad and I don't see FFXI/XIV service returning any time soon. I'm sure SE will get things up whenever it is both possible and responsible for them to do so.

Did you know that about 2,000,000 Africans die of starvation each year? This game has been out since like 2001. This means that 18,000,000 people have died of starvation and we've been playing FFXI this whole time. Isn't someone starving to death more important than FFXI? Don't you feel a bit guilty talking about an earthquake when 6,000 Africans die every single day of starvation?
Don't you feel guilty for doing anything other than starving to death or talking about starving to death every day?

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you exaggerated those numbers a great deal...

It's possible that tomorrow another earthquake will tear down SE HQ. But no one wants to believe that. So the bickering continues...

You'd think so.

Hmm I don't know that still seems wrong or a ploy to try and guilt people into donating more. That site just reports numbers with a graph from WFP. I mean come on how could they possibly reproduce THAT much in that struggling country?

Well uh, what better place would you want statistics from?

Human reproduction doesn't have much at all to do with wealth. It's actually the strict inverse of what you'd expect. Do you know how many people live in China?
Isn't someone starving to death more important than FFXI?
No.

No.
1234567890True, some of us are misenthropes and welcome the reduction in the populous.
True, some of us are misenthropes and welcome the reduction in the populous.
More like none of us are capable of truly caring about that many people. Dunbar's number, etc. You may think it's sad that so many people die every day over things we could easily prevent, but their deaths don't really register as anything more than a statistic.
And of course. How could you possibly care about every single person? Not only would you be miserable, you would have no time for yourself, because you'd be too busy trying to help billions of people that you can't actually help.
