Yet another instance of the Destrier Beret item not being claimable after registering the item key.

I purchased the game last night from Steam and everything installed properly. I have been able to login and play the game successfully, however, I am unable to claim the Destrier Beret item that was included with the game's purchase.

I received a key for this item from Steam after purchasing the game. While completely logged out of both PlayOnline and FFX, I successfully registered the key with the Square Enix account management website and pointed the item to my character Evard on Sylph, however, after logging in and speaking with the Festive Moogle that is located in Port Bastok he only gives me the 'We have nothing for you!' message.

I played for a few hours and tried talking to him again but I keep getting the same message. Obviously this is a widespread issue, I just wanted to get my particular instance of this problem reported. Thank you. :-)
