Would be super dandy if it included all prior data for the FFXI install and follow-up expansions, regardless of whether or not the disc comes with an all-in-one serial key for it.

Just would be nice not having to backup of FFXI on my external drive just so I don't have to go through 4 FFXI discs, 2 CoP CDs, 1 ToA DVD, and 1 WoTG DVD, and then hours and hours of downloading patch data if I were to reinstall from scratch on a new rig.

Would also make the 360 release more viable, particular if it did come with an all-in-one key as new players could hop on without having to hunt the now-rare copies of either the Vana'diel 2008 collection, or the "Ultimate Collection" release.

Agreed, seems somewhat pointless unless they do that for Xbox honestly seeing as they don't make Xbox copies anymore.

yeah.. might have to make it 2 Discs though (unless they use a dual layer disc). It's getting to be a bit of a monster though. Even the 8.5GB on a dual layer might not cut it with all the new assets, even with the compression. I'm sure there will be a new collection package eventually after it's been out for a bit as a standalone expansion. They've had a history of releasing them for about 6 or 7 years now.

I just want an excuse to pick up the retail copy to add to my collection of PS2/PC FFXI boxes, rather than grabbing it on Steam as a digital code.

Amazon shows FFXI Ultimate Collection (the current latest compilation release) as a 4.3gb download, so there's plenty of space for content patches + expansion if they either went dual layered, or did a double disc release (1 for new expansion, 1 for POL + FFXI)

Besides, ToA and WoTG weren't even a gig of data on their discs, so I'm not expecting SoA to chew up much space.

I want the disks to have the full game so my XBL friends can actually get on it, I have a friend who has been trying to get the game for his Xbox at a reasonable price for over a year with 0 luck.

I wish they made the lastest "ultimate" for 360, i would love that chocobo hat. I hope they give a code for that hat with this new expack.
And demon you can give your friends your disk all thet would have to do is set up an SE account and buy registration codes. Which SE sells.

You need the disk to run the game on 360 O.o also like I said, Xbox Live friends, which are mostly in different states or countries ;;

Sounds like he should of just bought the PC version. Just like every other Xbox player. BTW, whats a reasonable price? I happen to have 2 copies of the 360 version sitting by my other 360 games.

Thats your 2008 Collections edition, and the one with the first 3 mini-expansions on it. Neither was ever played, but I did use the registration codes. I have these because they were cheaper to buy than anything else, and I just needed the registration codes.

Reasonable would be something like 20 dollars. Look at SEs website for FFXI/POL and you will get 3 stores to buy from. EBGames, Gamestop, and Amazon. EBGames is Gamestop now, and Amazon wants 200 for a new copy I think, might be more. Lowest me & him could ever find in stock was 67 dollars, which he also would have to buy a PC version for the codes to all expansions+addons+abyssea. All in all 87 was to much for a 10 year old game.

yeah.. found the Aby collection new/sealed or XB360 for 170 last week for someone on Amazon. So if the media is still in mint condition, could ask a nice price for it I guess, even though it doesn't have a code to use. Only $20 for a code and they also get the PC DLC in case they want to migrate to PC one day.

Not only that but if you redeem the code on Xbox it gives access to them as well, Abyssea + Add-ons if not all of it.

They'd never realease it as an "ultimate" set to begin with, less money.

not initially... but 3-6 months down the line maybe. They've cranked out like 4 or 5 all inclusive collections already. Remember the timing of the $10 ASA launch....on the same day they announced the new collection that contained everything released to date...for like $20 or something?

They've been doing some strange things the last couple of years.

Edit:
As for how much space it would require, that would depend on how it's packaged for installation. The 2005/2006 Vanadiel Collection (up through CoP) had 3 sepearate installation folders, and the disc was right at 4GB. The 2010 UC DLC package was an installer and 3 compressed libraries that ran as a single install, and it ran 4.3GB. That puts it to one full DVD-5 already following that type of package, leaving up to around 4GB of space if put on a standard dual-layer disc (8.5GB). TAU was the last expansion with all new assets (WotG recycled alot--it was only @ 350MB on disc) and it was only about 1GB on disc. So yes, there is likely enough room to put it all on a dual layer...but DL can be more costly than SL to produce. Granted, now days it isn't as drastic as it used to be....but can still cost more.
