Hi all, I was playing the free trial version 4 days ago, and decided to go ahead and purchase the game, I went through all the steps, and ended up buying the digital game from Steam. Now when I try to use the CD key provided(exact name in thread title), to bring my trial version up to "regular service" when I enter the CD key into the play online & FFXI fields it states the key has already been used. I've not entered this key anywhere else before, I've literally brought the game about 20 minutes ago and this was the first time I typed the key into a field.

So I am now stuck with 2 Keys(1 for Ultimate Collect, the other for the beret/hat thing), When I try to upgrade my account it won't let me, I can't even register a payment method(thought that would change it from trial, or unlock the key to be used properly) because there is in essence, nothing to pay for yet, as i can't register a key to unlock the full game.... You see where i am going with this ? I followed the step by step intructions on the Square Enix support site on how to uninstall the trial client, in preperation for the steam version & how to upgrade your trial account to full game, did all that exactly, but still says key already been used, and now I'm downloading steam version right now. I just wanted to upgrade the account and get everything ready as I know you don't enter the keys while in game or anything.

I'm trying to contact support but no dice yet, Anybody else care to suggest something here ?

Sorry if this is redundant, seeing as you're on the forums and all, but did you get a Square-Enix account and link your game account to it? It's about all I can think of at the moment, since they handle all the payment stuff on there, at least as far as I know. ^^; Either way, I hope someone can help with your predicament!

Hey, No I had managed to do all of what you said, But I did however talk with a Square Enix agent, over the live chat. They were able to forward my case/ticket to their head office, and within a few hours I got an email with a new key, that works and has all content registered for it. So for anybody else who purchases from Steam and comes across this problem, contact their support, but be ready to supply a screenshot of either your bank statement, or the receipt email + your steam library (what I had to do, Didn't want to show bank statement). Hope this helps anybody in the future who goes looking for this solution.
