View Full Version : Chat filter system needs some refining

Dear SE,

In all the years I've played this game I've been seriously annoyed with the way the chat filters work and I've finally decided to say something about it. What really bothers me is every single filter labelled "special actions started on/by (you, party, allies, foes, others NPCs)." There are many situations where I would like to see the actions started by a group, but not those started on the group (or vice versa) and I think it makes absolutely no sense to group these things together into one filter.

For example, this becomes a really big problem when playing WHM with a large group of people. In order to see which actions a monster is taking ON my alliance I need to turn off the filter titled "special actions started on/by alliance." But then I am forced to also see the spells and abilities started BY 17 other people in my chat log, and this creates an absurd amount of spam. This can make it really difficult to see the information I'm actually looking for, and almost defeats the purpose of turning the filter off in the first place. It's especially bad in areas like Einherjar where one needs also to turn off the "special actions started on/by others" filter and see the spells and actions started by up to 35 other people in order to see what the enemies are doing.

On the other hand, if I am playing with a small number of people I actually prefer to see their actions, in order to minimize the amount of redundancy of my own actions (such as starting a cure on someone that's already being cured by someone else). But in a large group of people, there is simply too much spam. Therefore, it would be very nice if you could look into making separate filters for actions started by each group and for those started on the group, so that we may adjust each of them according to our current situation. Thanks for your consideration in this matter.
