View Full Version : Missing areas in Change Map

I'm sure these areas are bottom-priority, but the following areas are unavailable in the Change Map menu, despite having permanently obtainable map key items:

Chocobo Circuit
Sealion's Den
Diorama Abdhaljs-Ghelsba
Abdhaljs Isle-Purgonorgo
The Colosseum

In my opinion, a fun bit of trivia. From what I can tell, all other applicable areas are available. The only map from the above list that I really use is Chocobo Circuit anyway, to get me to the nearest portal after using the Rounsey Wand.

I was disappointed by the lack of areas like Everbloow Hollow and Ghoyu's Reverie, but those make sense, and they don't have permanent maps either.

Preemptive strike on the misinformed: Sealion's Den is included in the map of the Tavnazia Region, Chocobo Circuit has its own map, The Colosseum is included with the map of Al Zahbi, and the PvP areas each have their own map, obtained permanently upon entering the areas for the first time.

Edit: This is worth noting: even while in Chocobo Circuit, you cannot toggle between its many maps.

Sealion's Den is a BCNM area, so that may be the problem there.

The others you list all seem to be "regionless areas," like the boats.

The Colosseum is in the West Aht Urhgan region; the PvP areas used to be in the Tavnazian Archipelago, but are now in the the Abdhaljs region. Chocobo Circuit has no region.

When I say "without a region," I mean "don't show up on /rmap, /bmap or /cmap." They also tend to be areas where party invites cannot be sent into or out of, only within (whereas normally you can send invites across areas within the same region, or between areas anywhere on /cmap, but that last one is probably just a bug).

I suspect it's a pretty good indication of when you've crossed from one server to another.

On the subject of change map, they need to add an option to easily switch between maps of the same zone without having to navigate through the entire region list again just to load up another.

Agreed, I already see that being a problem people hate when going into "dungeons".

And on ANOTHER subject regarding maps......they should really let us zoom it out further.

On the old 4:3 displays you could zoom it out and have the entire map in view. On modern 16:9/16:10 widescreen displays, you can only zoom out until the left/right edge of the map meets the side of the screen, and you're stuck having to vertically scroll since the maps are square vs. your monitor's rectangle.

Agreed, that would ease things up quite a bit.

I'd also like them to add the possibility to get party/alliance member locations while on a different map... That might be a bit much to be asked for, though. ^^;

Edit:

Imagine real-time (as in once ever 3-5 seconds or so) refresh on the map, automagically!
OK, ok... I know that would be utterly crazy.
