Having power cut out from you for 3.5 - 7 hours a day (the can add another blackout if needed) kinda affects their business.

Seriously guys, relax and your game will be back soon. SE is in a priority sector for getting out of the blackouts as it is. Spending all day pretending to care about their quarterly profits because you don't want to actually come out and say "idc what's going on I want my game back online" isn't going to make it come back any faster.

I actually only play FFXI casual, meaning I play about 2-3 hours in the early mornings when my two young daughter wake up (age 3 & 2). Then I might log on after 10pm. when they go to sleep & my wife is asleep, cause spending time with my family is #1 on my list. So SE being down does not affect me that much at all really, all I am saying is how a business works & thinks.

Now 4 years ago Ontario went through an ice storm that froze and blew up a lot of our power generators. We had to sit and wait 5 days in middle of December with no hydro. The power companies got power restored by borrowing power from USA. The whole time the power was down local companies rented generator's or had back-up power to keep them going. Now even though we had limited power through all this I still went shopping, went to work & was even able to get my hair cut. Elderly & young children died cause of the lack of heat but that did not stop companies from trying to resume everyday functions.

But on another note i for one do know how large of an impact Japan has on Canada. It is as close to zero as you could imagine. We only do 2.03% of our trading with them & roughly 52,000 people work for Toyota here.

Now you do your research and tell me your numbers before you start blasting people about facts you know nothing about.

However, I found other things more constructive to do with my time instead of ranting about the game being off. To complain about the game being off is just selfish. Go out and play some basketball. See a bad movie! Complain about it, but see it! Go on a date! Yes, I know that proposition is scary. There is sunlight to be had. I see a lot of you have a keyboard cowboy persona.

The game will return. It makes money for SE. If they didn't HAVE TO, they would not have shut down the servers. If you don't agree with the game being down temporarily... go play another one. MGS online isnt as big as ff and there servers are not as large and dont take as much power as FF down period i play MGS online as well but still Konami isnt using as much power as FF is for the many servers they have to turn on and the power to cool them etc

Umm where are you getting your numbers from they don't have more subs then FF and there only on one platform PS3 where as FFXI is on Xbox, PS3 and PC. Its a much smaller operation and less resources then FFXI

If this was the cause would we not need a server merge but maybe servers added? last count for FFXI was around 227k. MGS was 330k so unless my math is wrong MGS is larger. Hech there are more people playing farmville on facebook then FFXI. If you even did a little research SE needs to have atleast 200k players to break even. So with the numbers the way they are they are not making much money right now, so this could be a huge reason why they are not up & running. Could be an escape goat for them to eliminate the game & try to make a buck elsewhere for now. We do not know, but somehow you do?

I read alot, you will never see me post remarks involving stats without doing my homework. I am not not 19 year old college student. I am a 31 year old husband & father. Own a house, car & have enough money that myself & wife will never have to work another day in our lives.

But wife wants to watch t.v so have fun, time to do something productive for a bit, hope we can continue this later. Heck I may switch servers to continue once the game is back up in, what did you say 2 months????

Last count I had which was just month ago FFXI had just under 600k player base and thats not counting people with double accounts and as far as I can tell MSG is just under 200k so don't no where tour getting numbers from but there either exaggerated or just wrong. My numbers could be off too but I'm sure not by that much.

FFXIAH is by no means accurate. It has my information from over 2 years ago (last scanned 32 months ago)--yet, I sold stuff on March 12, 2011.

Unfortunately, these things have to be built near large bodies of water, as that water is used as a cooling medium. Look up the history of Nuclear reactors, and you will see the pattern. Granted, their may have been better sites and what not, but that is kind of mute when you are talking about Japan...topography and industry may not have allowed a viable site on the western side.

How do you know what they are running for servers compared to SE? no one knows this but you do? & MGS Online is a lot bigger then FFXI. Look it up, i could care less that you play it, but the facts tell the truth. Geez i love how you just sit on a frigging doughnut & you are now a doughnut maker.

no but common sense can be used to determine that servers for an MMORPG and an online shooter....are two different things. SE uses more power, so they where asked to shut off, the others most likely don't even use an 1/8 of what SE does.

The article further states that FFXI has 32 gameworlds that can house 15k-20k users each. Granted, we only have the 24 gameworlds and the one test server--but if it's capable of supporting even just 15k per world, then we could theoritically go to over 7million users. Somehow I don't see MGSO reaching that level with just the PS3 platform support, so I SERIOUSLY doubt they have the infrastructure in place to support it.

Again, no confirmed hard numbers, purely speculation based on numbers that are supplied from another source (but, the 2008 number is confirmed by SE's own count). But...I think any reasonable person could draw the conclusion that SE's operation is just a weeeee bit bigger than Konami's. Especially if you throw in FFXIV and the Taito Corp. that is in the same building as well.

I was going to pull the wiki up as well. All i was trying to say id that because he plays the game & says they only have 2 servers in BS. No way 1+ million players on 2 servers. We have this confirmed by CoD MW2 when their servers crashed cause of this.

I do know that FFXI using more resources but if you even look at MGS website they state the shutdown to save power. (but decided 2 days was long enough to conserve?weird) the only thing I am/have been trying to get into his incredibly thick skull is that I stated my opinion, without blasting him in any form. He is a better person cause he is able flam someone for expressing their opinion. WOW he is going to go very far in his life. If he has such a hard time accepting the fact not everyone thinks like him then he is in for a rude awakening when he is jobless, homeless, wifeless & living in his parents basement playing FFXI and being an elitist.
