Just level BRD or SMN so you can run faster everywhere.

Just man up and walk. It's not so bad. Sides, what fun is exploring if everything whips by you so fast. Environments come to life a lot more if you actually have to spend time in them.

Or COR. I'm writing this next sentence because of character limit.

oh you new people and your new fangled modes of transportation, back in my day, when we needed to get somewhere, we had to walk, we had to work to earn the right to get op warps, we had to run to sky, we had to get a chocobo in town or at a crystal

you have no idea how easy you have it

I like the idea and SE should lower the level requirement to ride them from 20 to 1 !

When I clicked on this thread I thought you were about to complain about the lack of content for exploration, but... movement speed, really? You're interested in exploring, but too lazy to do so at the speed you're given? That's... kind of sad. As Dale said, if you're really exploring, you don't want everything whipping by you at the speed of light. You miss way too many things that way.

We didn't used to have equips like Sprinter's Shoes, which you don't even need to keep equipped to utilize the quickening from. On top of that, there's now the SCH sub with Desert Boots option, the older-school BRD sub for Raptor Mazurka... You could point out leveling BRD or DNC to much higher levels for their "chocobo" functions, but these are the more easy and slightly less obvious options (nevermind less expensive!).

I imagine this is a troll thread.

exploring (or in this case getting around) is really easy in FFXI if you work on it. Do all of your outpost warp quests, get all fluxes, explore every past zone, maw, abyssea maws, assault staging points.

I almost never have a situation in which i cannot get somewhere I want quickly.

I agree on the whistle limits though, the work you have to do (i think?) to get a boco is another cost/reward silliness from the past.

as if getting all OPs is something you can easily achieve by your own hard work

as if getting all OPs is something you can easily achieve by your own hard work

...Is this double-sarcasm or something? Because it is. Achievable eventually through your own work, that is. That phrase just... doesn't make too much sense if it isn't true, considering 'easily achieve' and 'hard work' is sort of an oxymoron when placed together...

If you're alluding to the fact that we have to wait for some areas to be obtainable OP-wise based on conquest results, then yeah, that's not exactly something you can adjust unless you do the old-school task of setting out with a party of friends to gain conquest points in any number of ways. However, the more basic OPs, or at least OPs within a good distance of each other - for those that can't use teleport spells - are very easily obtainable.

The charges on the choco whistle are more than enough to last awhile...What could you possibly need so much choco calling for?

What they need is choco use in more areas

i remember the days of blood porting sutch fun times fast way to get to a op warp and jump closer to next area

I'm grateful to SE for what they've done with traveling. Nothing wrong with a little running here and there. It's a big world, more players should take the time to get lost and explore it.

DNC with 12% movement shoes and chocobo jig runs quite fast as well, but then you have to lvl dnc quite high along with most of the other jobs that can move fast. Thf is also good with 12% movement boots and flee every 5 minutes unless you merit it down some. Nowadays it's easy to warp around everywhere though. When I first started the game years ago I ha to walk everywhere and get to a city to use a chocobo everywhere. I also spent many times using airships to get from city to city. Nowadays Abyssea maw warps can get you to areas fast, teleports, and there's even those teleport earrings you can craft with synergy. I have almost one for each city/town myself.

You should do like me and try go thru the whole La Thiene plateau at walking (not running) speed staying inside the road. It will help you appreciate the normal exploring while running speed better.

I have to agree with tc. You run waaaay to slow in the game it's like watching paint dry at times. They did this on purpose though just to add an additinal time sync mechanic in the game. They should at least speed up our movement speed to the speed that you move in XIV.

Kjara
03-17-2011, 09:22 AM
the only thing I agree with speed being too slow is in terms of relation between game time and game space. If you look at the game clock it takes you two minutes to talk through your whole mog house... that's a bit too much. But I don't think anything can be done to fix it to a right proportion. either we'd move too fast or game time would run too slowly.

I bet your chocobo would love you for tht Miera!
The more I read in here the more I am convinced people are missing 2/3rds of the game if not more.
My gosh all the things you miss seeing when you aren't looking for a safe path to get to jeuno from windy or running through pashhow without a map at level 20 or dying in jugnar heading to jeuno from sandy.
Did you ever stop to smell the flowers in the glacier area? Swat the huge dandilion puffs in la theine? Park under the waterfalls in miserouix?
Time to slow down and smell the flowers and see what is in the game you are missing.
and i sure wish there was a spell check with ffxi names in here. :D

U suck at exploring in FFXI. Every once in a while I will look up and see the world around me. If I'm lucky, there's a rainbow in La Thiene I always want to catch being there.

One of FFXI's best attributes is the environment.

lol my Chocobo never liked me to began with since I basically neglected him xD

I loved randomly coming to La Theine and seeing a Rainbow then I would shout "A Summoner was just born." ;D
