I'm curious to see what people would love to see in the future from FFXI, forget things like PS2 limitations, or likelihood these will ever get implemented for a sec. What would you like to see a year from now, two years from now in the game :)

I personally would love to see a continuation of the Aht Urhgan storyline, similar to how Abyssea was more or less a continuation of CoP. The references to the far east, Naja's home, and Tenzen's description of the "emptiness" consuming the land holds a lot of potential for new storyline developments and/or battle systems.

I'd like to see more about Zilarts. A continuation of CoP or RoZ or both combined would make me happy.

Ooh yeah seeing Tavnazia would be really cool, even if it's in shambles. A reverse Beseiged even might be kind of fun, where if Conquest forces take control, it becomes an area with NPCs, and if beast man take control it becomes a battle area.

That would be seriously cool.

Honestly, I just want SE to go through all current and old content and fix what's broken. Take 6-months and completely focus on fixing things. There are too many broken / unusable systems in this game right now for them to bother adding more and more on.

Hmm, I'd like to see the craft system edited a bit too. At least reduce the cooling period between each synth. Making 9 stacks of Holy Water, one at a time, is le owwie. I love the Titration system they implemented, but it's not possible for every synth.

Ooh, or maybe some item that speeds up syntheses would be cool too!

Maybe a mini expansion that is hard as shit with lots of battles but indispensable rewards at the end like a new area or the 99 rajas ring equivalent or a belt/neck like that or something. And get creative with the fights. Not big AoE, try massive poison aura or random spell disabling like nyzul.

You know it's too bad more people don't do Walk of Echoes, a small group and I went out last night and did a few of the first fluxes, and at first glance it seems like a rehashed limbus or einherjar, but it's actually a lot different. I love that the monster behavior works much differently than anywhere else in the game, rather than hunting out mobs, the players are the ones being hunted in many cases.

With the cool down wait gone, skill ups back, and 5 random starting temps, it's worth checking out again if you haven't in a while, and are looking for something fun and challenging to do as a high level player.

I'd like to see the Far East, the Mithran homeland, the Northern continent where the Gigas are from, and whatever-the-heck is to the west. Really anything with a story. The endless grind for non-existent gear that is Voidwatch/Legion/etc is killing my soul.

The Elvaan homeland is to the west. And yes, I agree 100% with you. I would love to see all of those places too. =_=; it's ok, the endless grind and the lamesauce gear with its marginal upgrades is really killing my soul as well.

New Blood Pact Rages XD

This times a hundred. @Q@ And make them powerful, too... not weaker than the 75 Blood Pacts...

I'd like to see more magian like gear for funsies. Maybe gear for beginner players that can be modified as the character levels up. For example, level 1 body that, after killing 50 of any type of monster can be upgraded to a level 10 body with STR+1. And then after killing another 100 or 200 monsters, a level 20 body piece with another enhancement. The player would be able to choose the attributes they added, and it would help with the grieving over the lack of lower level gear on auction houses plus the grieving over said gear sometimes costing an arm and a leg from NPCs.

It'd be lots of fun to have newbie gear that's customized by me! And of course, by the time the player reaches around 75, these pieces would become obsolete with better gear. But it'd still be fun for level sync parties in Gusgen Mines and Crawler's Nest. More appealing than wearing level 1 Dining Hose...

I could see them turning it into a new end game event zone. You could imagine the type of treasure left un~touch there. Not to mention the un~rested soul's of those who are stuck there, in need of being place to rest. Maybe you could even do a 2 part add on. One set in the past involved in the fight. And than one in the present, going back into the zone and putting to rest the comrades you fought along side of. Gaining there legendary equipment they left behind. You could even add quest to the zone/zones. Just to keep thing's interesting with story line that would involve the unsung hero's of the battle of Tavnazia.

Something like campaign, but with us on the attacking side. Require a campaign with a logical progression of us beating outlying targets and moving on to strongholds and the like until finally we go against the big guy. It doesn't have to be in the starting areas either, ToAU has plenty of strongholds. Maybe the war with the Ephramadians? at any rate, something like that.

Wars are not won defensively. You may weaken the enemy, but until you go on the attack they never feel the need to surrender, nor are they "beaten". Keep the stupid !! systems out of it. We've all worked hard to get power to our characters, now I'd like us to be able to use it to our full potential, instead of having to hold back until we have the right kind and number of !! done.

Obviously, the content needs to be redoable, so that we can continue to enjoy it, so make the "strikes" like missions. When we choose to do one that counts each strike would have to be selected and would be an instanced battle against a force (or preferably several waves) until we get the MB of that strike. Then you can move on to the next. Make the battles difficult enough that noone can win with players AFK, too.

No random rewards either. Each mission you get a choice of reward if you took part in the fight and win. And by choice I mean 20 different job-specific rewards, the power of each tied to the difficulty of the mission, so you start with "inventory -1 crap" and work your way to "OMG, <drool>". Maybe the best way is something like you did with the ACP rewards where we get our choice of augments; the augs on the early stuff would be like att +2 and by the final piece you're looking at 3 augs in the Haste +12% range. Alternative: acquire a piece at the 1st battle and then you get augmentations at each battle down the line that overwrite the initial augs, adding a 2nd and 3rd aug at logical points. With the 2nd option you could allow us to redo the content on ech job, but require us to be playing that job during the Strikes. That would allow us to build up to 20 job-specific pieces, customized to our preferences-although I'm certain that most pieces would end up with fairly standard augs accross all paladins as an example. Make a wide selection of augs tho' please.

Love the discussion around Tavnazia, and I would love to see the zone as well. Might be an unrealistic idea, but why not introduce it in the past, present, and Abyssea as well? Would be a fun (dare I say it) add-on scenario that could also fill in some storyline gaps from Abyssea.

I suggested a Tavnazia endgame event about a year ago (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/14365-My-Ideal-Expansion?p=190085&viewfull=1#post190085), and only 1 person liked it :( Re-posting here for fun, since people might actually like it now.

Tavnazia
This endgame event is actually two separate events.

(I'm "Hiding" this stuff since it spoils a lot of stuff from several storylines; mainly Chains of Promathia.)

* The defending of Tavnazia in the past.

* Retaking the city from the Beastmen forces in the present.

A crazy thought...

I really like your ideas for Tavy, AyinDygra. For the last spoiler, they could require completion of CoP in order to begin the storyline for Tavnazia. It'd be like needing to defeat the Shadow Lord to begin Rise of the Zilart.

I would like more storyline and most of all, new areas that are actually new. For a while now, everything new seems to be just some area redone with some newish mobs. I am beginning to think the only new content being done is for FFXIV.

How about we just see the rest of the world? Yeah they can leave certain cultures and such in "mystery" in typical FF fashion, but ther'es a whole friggen continent(s) left unviewable from the ToAU maps which would extend to the west of the standard vana'diel map. Antican homeworld? More trolls and wyverns? Connection to Tavnazia? I don't care, I just hate knowing that almost an entire hemisphere is not viewable in world maps, let alone not visitable.

I'd like to see the dropped plot point in ToAH of the extra astral candescenses be brought back, they had a bunch of hints about it and then it just kinda dissapeared. Also I'd love to see more stuff regarding the Zilart and Kuluu, maybe something to do with the Armathrywn society helping them repurpose the old technology into things that can be readily used in present day.
