since this latest update ffxi no longer recognizes my gamepad. in the windows config it works fine, i've even tried it in other programs, works fine. but ffxi does not respond at all.
i went into the config menu and everything is as it was a week ago when the gamepad was working fine... but when i go to test, nothing happens. completely non-responsive?
i've since re-installed the drivers for the gamepad, no change. is anyone else having this issue?

What type of gamepad? I use a xbox 360 controller on pc and i have no issues and on my other pc i use the ps3 and it works fine as well.

it's a power-a airflo ps3 controller. :http://www.powera.com/products/details/770 it worked perfectly before, even the lights and the fan.
process of elimination makes me think it's not the controller. it still works for anything i try it on EXCEPT FFXI, and before this latest update it worked here to?
but if nobody else is having an issue maybe it's something i did in the interim... i am confounded. it's not like installing diablo3 could somehow mess up ffxi-config, could it? and i can't think of anything else i did in the few days around the latest update...
frustrating.
now zams, if you don't mind my asking, how do you get an xbox controller working on your pc? a friend of mine uses one for his, but his triggers don't register so he's out 2 buttons?
you know just in case i can't figure this one out... i'm not gonna quit over a 35$ gamepad or anything, but i REALLY can't play without SOME functioning gamepad. i swapped to pc like a month ago after 7-8 years of console. to old to unlearn it.

I use a PS2 controller via a Super Joy Box 5 Pro, available from Amazon or Play-Asia. Xbox 360 controllers require Joy to Key or an unofficial driver to turn the triggers into buttons or keyboard input.

Registry key could have gotten monkeyed up....it is Winblows after all. Have you tried disabling the controller in FFXI Config, saving settings, then toggling it back on and saving again?

to get the 360 controller to work, wired just plug into usb port goto microsoft and search wired 360 controller and download the files/drivers. as for wireless you need to have a usb wireless adapater that sells for 20 usd at best buy then search microsoft for wireless files/drivers and do the same. The wireless usb device is sold around the 360 accessories.

Having the same issues, I'm returning to the game and just reinstalled. Using a logitech F710. Controller works in FFXI config but not in FFXI itself. Anyone find a solution to this yet?

wait, so they re-nerfed keyboard players without fixing the problem...typical

I have the same problem as OP: in POL config, other programs, and the windows game pad settings the controller works just fine, in ffxi game pad settings there's no response. I try every controller i have, which include 2 wired XBOX 360 controllers and a PS2 controller with an attachment that used to work just fine before. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and POL, but still no luck. I'm hoping that this will be fixed soonish. :D

Using a logitech F710.
Make sure you have the switch set for DirectInput and not Xinput.

sorry to necro this thread, but i figured it out (kinda)
when i installed diablo 3 i also installed this: http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.221675100
i don't understand HOW, but apparently that razer nostromo is some kind of diva or something, while it was installed NO gamepad would work for FFXI.
not even plugged in, just installed.
so in a recent "just try anything" attempt i uninstalled EVERY ancillary controller, all the gamepads i had tried AND the nostromo. now EVERY gamepad i tried, works again.
i'm not a scientist, but this makes me fairly confident it was the nostromo.
hopefully this will help somebody else who also hated trying to play diablo 3 with a laptop keyboard <.<

@Doombringer: It's not a necro post if it actually fixes a problem in my opinion lol
Uninstalling the Nostromo software and the drivers for the Nostromo pad worked. FFXI config can now see any controller I wish to use. You are a genius sir. :D
Now to play like I mean it again!
