It will now take less time for the macro palette to display after pushing either the Ctrl or Alt key.

Dear SE.

When I first read the above, I was all "hurray!!!". And when I first logged on after the update, and tried pressing ctrl and alt, I was all "oh wow! fast!".

Then I tried to actually use macros...

I don't know what you have done but everything is ten times worse now. No, HUNDRED times worse. My pc isn't the greatest. And I often lag, especially for things like voidwatch, and legion, which both are graphics intensive with a lot going on near my character. And now my macros won't go off at all if I'm hitting the keys too fast, it's like there needs to be a slight pause after hitting ctrl or alt and the macro pallette shows - and it absolutely definitely has to show. For my whm, that is absolutely horrible beyond words, I'm smashing my keys trying to get that crucial cure to go off, with the result that the DD dies because the damn macro just will not fire.

Change it back, please. -.-

Edit: if this isn't the right subforum for this subject, by all means move this thread.

The update is working perfectly fine for me. I'm sorry that you're having troubles with it.
My macro bar did the exact opposite of what your complaint is before the update, and now they're firing away quickly and with great accuracy.

Again, I'm really sorry that your client is suffering from it.

have you reduced the graphics settings and put damage to "display on screen" versus in text? Also, have you applied filters to your chat log? These settings can cause the client-side to lag, and considering you've said your PC "isn't the greatest" im leaning towards a client-side problem.

As Zerich said, I'm having a much fasther, smoother operation with macros running cleaner... so it seems like this update just pushed your PC to slightly-beyond its limits...

I addressed a similar issue in my own thread, located here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/23351-Delay-in-Macros-Firing-off

I have the same issue you're having with macros being slow to fire, especially if they're pressed at the same time. At least I know it's not just me now.

Beginning to wonder if the macro issues aren't platform related somehow--not just console or PC, but also Windows Version. I'm still on XP-Pro, using a PS2 controller via USB connection, and the macros work just as they always have. Fought some NM's on SMN and NIN in Aby-Vunk and Aby-Uly Range and had no issues at all.

I'm having the exact same problems as the OP. Why can't we just have the macro palette appear fast and macro firing fast! I don't want to remap my keyboard to play the game, like in 14.

They're fixing it, they admitted it as a bug on the Japanese forums, not sure if they have on the English yet.

Nevermind, http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/23379-EU-All-Worlds-Emergency-Maintenance-%28May-17%29

Guess they'll fix it today.

I've played without shadows and weather effects for as long as I can remember.

Chat filter is set to show my own attacks/attacks avoided/damage taken (which is a non-issue when playing whm) and special actions by party/alliance/monster, that's it.

Although my pc isn't the greatest, I've never ever struggled with macros as bad as I did yesterday for vwnm and legion. Actually happy to see the emergency maintenance (there's a first for everything!), I really hope this issue will be fixed. And nice to see I'm not the only one who's experienced it!

@Daniel_Hatcher: could you show me where on the JP forums SE said it's a bug please?

My apologies, it's just in reference to gamepads.

Oh ok - well either way, judging from this thread and other posts I've seen on the forum, it does seem like the macro "fix" in this update has broken something for Windows users, both controller and keyboard users.
