How well do you know Vana'diel? Could you find your way through the Yuhtunga Jungle blindfolded and navigate to safety by sound only? Do you know each individual crevice and nook of the maps of Vana'diel? The Community Team has concocted a series of trials to put your knowledge of Vana'diel, as well as your riddle-solving abilities, to the test!

The Community Team will make an appearance on the Test Server and hide in special locations scattered across Vana'diel. Once the team member has made their way to the hiding spot, we will announce a hint regarding the location on both the forum and also in-game via linkshells that will be distributed. Players must then hunt down the hidden Community Team member. The first three players to find the hiding Community Team member and purchase a Red Rose from their bazaar will be awarded a Chocobo Beret!

The Test Server is only available to PC players.

Anyways, you just know it's going to be Yuhtunga Jungle. I know the original developer has probably left SE for about 8 years now, but I still fantasise about meeting him/her at a random event and just shaking them, asking WHY DEAR GOD WHY?

You can get a PC that can handle FFXI just fine cheaper than a 360 or working PS2. Shouldn't be an issue really.

Your solution is that they should waste hundreds of dollars on a pc when a phone can do a ton of stuff you used to need a pt for nowadays?

You mean my phone can haste me, cure me, AND tank a mob? Please show me how to get it to do this.

ALSO: If you're too poor to buy a ratty old PC that's capable of playing FFXI, your priorities should lie elsewhere.

wait, there are people that live in the 21st Century that don't own a PC? let alone ones that pay for a subscription to an internet service provider without one?

Okay so why only the test server ?.? Are we who don't play on test server not worth S.E.'s time any more?

They're using the Test Server as a means of crowd control. They need to tell everyone to meet at a specific place ahead of time, so they need to announce it publicly. If, then, a couple hundred people gathered, including those ineligible to participate, they would have a problem with organizing those that are accepted to participate.

That being said, I believe the Atomos Challenge held on the Test Server Atomos was available to all platforms, and I feel that that may have been a better route to take; however, I could be mistaken.

This sounds fun! I'm a little worried about my test server copy though. I hope it doesn't take too long for my character to copy over! The application page says to just wait and try again for my character to appear. I'm wondering if that means "Try again to apply" or "Try to just re open the Test Client."

Thank you Camate, Bayohne, Rukkirii, and Okipuit for staying after work and giving your own personal time to create and host this event for everyone. It was an amazing event, surprisingly fun, and was pretty difficult at times not only figuring out what the clues meant but having a race with 30-40 players trying to get to the same exact spot you're trying to get to to buy one of the 3 red roses.

It was so fun I'm coming back again next Friday and I hope there are more events like this where you interact with the community. It was the most fun I've had in this game in years, no new content updates could even come close to what you gave us tonight. Thank you again community reps.

I'd just like to offer some tips for contestants interested in the next contest on 5/25:

Install and update your Test Client well in advance, it takes quite a while.
Your character profile gets mirrored over at time of Test Server Registration (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/13713-Regarding-the-FINAL-FANTASY-XI-Test-Server). Make sure you load up on anything you think you might need beforehand.
There are special NPCs that will give free Sneak Oils, Prism Powders, Job levels & spells.
There are special NPCs near the 3-nations that will grant instant access to all of VoidWatch, for VW teleports.

Good luck!

There also appears to be a bug where you cannot zone into your Mog House without crashing if you have the event items or Cake furnishing placed in your Mog House on the live server.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/23459-POL-stops-working-when-zoning-into-Mog-House

This makes it impossible to access the GM Moogles to cheats your stats for the event. :P

Howdy!

We are getting prepped to start our event in just a bit!

If you are not in-game and wish to join later you can keep track of where we are here (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/23675-Hint-Thread-Day-2?p=319096&viewfull=1#post319096). :)

Camate (or whichever Dev ends up reading this), I mis-gave the character name. If it's not too late, please send the item instead to Maikerukun (as opposed to Hitsukun which I had given) on Sylph, if it is still at all possible.

That aside, thank you for a wonderful event. It definitely reinvigorated my love for this game. I really cannot wait to see the fruition of your Poison Dash event!
