ive just had to reinstal ffxi and POL on a new pc, i have some old cd's like the ffxi vanadiel collection which contains ffxi+RotZ+CoP but wont work on windows 7 so i had to download POL through
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/vista01.html?pageID=media

however this is only POL and not ffxi, ive logged into my POL and cant play ffxi because it isnt installed and i cant install ffxi from the CD because it says POL isnt installed (when it is because i downloaded and installed it from the link above).

can anyone shed some light on this?

still wondering though why they dont have the ffxi game + expansions to download for SE members anyway since weve already payed for the game and also the monthly payments we should be able to download more than just POL only.

UK version

It might be because you got the wrong regional version?

http://www.playonline.com/ff11eu/download/media/vista01.html?pageID=media

you noted you got it from the US page via this link:

http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/vista01.html?pageID=media

Note the ff11us vs. ff11eu in the URL. IDK if it's different installers or not, but they are on region specific URL's, so it's possible.

Scroll down. You'll need to run setup programs lurking within individual folders.

Expansions (RotZ, CoP, ToAU, WotG): you need to install from media.
Mission add-ons (ACP, AMK, ASA): automatically applied after installing RotZ
Abyssea add-ons: automatically applied after installing RotZ and WotG

You haven't mentioned any install media for ToAU or WoTG. If you don't have those lying around, you're better off just going to Amazon and spending $10 for the Ultimate Collection: Abyssea Edition. You'll get a shiny hat in the process.

Their Abyssea Edition DLC (http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XI-Ultimate-Collection/dp/B004V9QC80/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336947297&sr=8-1) lists for $20USD...and it's for US only:

Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States and who have a U.S. billing address

When getting the expansions/collections---double check your region just in case. Might even need to message them to confirm it in some cases.

Not without a disk, or using a torrent.

if you do not have the abby expansions unlocked already or missing a couple of the missions i recommend buying the game off steam. It comes with every single Expansion + a Special Ingame Item.
