Never gonna happen. Even FFXIV, that was supposed to open on both PS3 and PC, is unlikely to ever play there. We have been abandoned by SE, accept it and keep playing as is or move to another game/platform.

It is coming to PS3 with the 2.0 release. No point in releasing it on PS3 yet, when the biggest MMO platform the PC has so few subscribers.
FFXI on PS2 will only be fixed if they release a PS3 version, which they wont. Move to PC, 99% of them can play it easily at the highest setting, and you can use a PS2 controller on it.

PS3 was postponed because it was too bloated for the PS3 and they had issues with it running on the console. It was originally scheduled to be released shortly after the PC release. They are trimming textures sizes and other stuff like that to get around some restrictions on the console. Looks like they haven't fully learned their lesson yet. /sigh.
And simply making a PS3 version of FFXI may not fix these problems. It is an issue in the coding that is causing the problem. Probly an overflow issue of some sort. Think I read somewhere there was an issue similar to some of the Java Servlet garbage collection problems that causes apps to lockup. Just like increasing the memory pool for the VM didn't solve the problem in Java (get enough activity, the larger pool still gets exhausted), moving to a system that gives more resources to begin with doesn't solve the problem, it just may take longer for the buffers to fill before the lockup. Masking the problem does not fix it.

PS2 needs abandoning, burial, and if desired, mourning.
PS3 bugs, of course, should be fixed immediately.
