View Full Version : Why is crafting so bad?

Seriously, the 100-110 stretch is a nightmare with some drops being new VWNM only drops which basically amounts to a non-existent supply.

Certain items like Wyrdstrand and Hides dropped off monsters but this wasn't carried over other items why? The whole thing seems rather unbalanced.

It's to stop people from spamming to level 110 too fast. They want to drag it out, once they raise the cap to 120 then recipes will be released that makes 110 easier. Same thing will happen at 130 and 140.

I doubt they're raising the cap past 110. I know 160 is in the dats, but so are Rank 15 and Lv.225. If they raise the cap any further it will just become incredibly unbalanced, subcrafts will be raised to 110 and everything you can currently craft will be a t3 synth. They've played their hand early with the Hexed gear too, thats the sort of thing you put at the end of a cap rise, not the start.

110 is the cap, they'll add more synths in the 110 range if anything (91-100 had well over a dozen synths, 101-110 typically less than half a dozen). That said stupid decisions and SE go hand in hand these days.

As for the current state of 110 at the moment, I like it. The difficulty puts other people off which is great, my only issue is that some crafts have absolutely nothing worthwhile (Woodworking, and I doubt Prism staff will change that) and the rest have Hexed gear which is pretty damn pathetic, even if augments were possible the fact that NQ can't be augmented is just moronic.

Obviously its the challenge! 100-110 should take skill and dedication!......I have no idea, the one thing they got right with XIV's crafting system..even if the materials were kind of rare they at least were obtainable by reasonable means or there were plenty of even (Useless) item alternatives to create for leveling.

Umm ... you know they already announced their plan to raise it to as high as 140 right?
Subs going to 100, Main going to 140. Yes it'll make everything we craft ~now~ easy to T3, there will be higher level synths that won't be T2/T3'd so easily.

Unless your one of those who wants your gear from 2005/2006 to still be relevant in 2013.

Alchemy got shafted pretty hard by this update. We get an entire 5 synths to 110, with 4 being more or less useless and one being 'meh'. All 5 requiring an Ethereal Squama which drop from Verthandi and very very rarely Celaeno.

Find the quote then I'll believe it. I've only ever seen them mention raising the cap, never stating an exact level range. The recent roadmap completely lacked any mention of raising the cap, too.

It being unbalanced has little to do with 2005 gear (crafting wise almost all of it is irrelevant already, so nice point), if they raise the cap 2012 gear is a joke to HQ. For most crafts they failed to even add half a dozen synths to the 101-110 range, if that's what the cap rise is going to be like, they shouldn't even bother; if they're just going to add around 24 new synths per craft they might as well just put them in the 101-110 range. Once you reach 110 Hexed gear is already a t1 synth, if they want to add anything superior to Hexed they simply need to put them in the 111-120 range without raising the cap so they remain t0 synths. There is seriously no reason for them to raise the crafting cap beyond 110.
