hi!
I was thinking for a long time that maybe FF11 needs a new race so it ll create a new story and a new expansion. I dont know if this is possible due to ps2 limitations but I just wanted to propose it.
I ve always wanted to have wings, so a wingling race would be something very cool for me.
I have lots of ideas for something like that so if u are interested just post and I ll reply.

Oh and if anyone from Sylph, find me :)

Such things would be nice, but sadly they'll almost surely never happen. PS2 limitations might be part of it but it's also something of a "They don't want to invest in it" kind of thing. We can only hope it changes =\

That's a terrible idea.

As long as FF14 cant become FF11, I tried it and I know, I believe that the time will come for this game to get new faster and stronger servers ^^
I hope SE decide to kill PS2 and can always provide free copies of the game for PC or XboX to ppl with PS2 FF11.
But Let Me Dream ^^
Thanks for the replies guys ^^

That's a colossal amount of work to do. Just from the technical standpoint, all that armor would have to be remade for the new race, twice if the male and female members don't share the same body shape like the Tarutaru do. Every action would have to be animated. RSE type gear has to be created and added to be acquired somewhere. Any event or activity with a race requirement would have to altered to include the new race.

Lore wise there is no part for a new race. To avoid spoilers for some people, while CoP does shed some new light on this, it's supposed to be a truth reserved for the adventurers and NPCs who came with them, not the ignorant villagers and merchants. Or should the ignorant villagers who believe in only 5 races of Altana scream and run in terror at the winged monsters who has invaded their towns to buy overpriced armor and stare whilst listening to said ignorant villagers' outdated monologue?

Even if it were implemented, only people willing to make a new character could use it unless you are expecting a free race change to it. Also, the game sees you as being solidly connected to the ground so even if your character appears flying high as a condor, that one inch pebble in front of your shadow will still stop your progress.

It's certain players wont be accepting a recolored copy of another race with wings tacked on, not unless they want people to believe that recolored Abbysea zones are the epitome of developer laziness despite the new mobs, NMs, events, etc contained and a new race of blue-skinned Elvaans with a permanent Angelwing effect is somehow amazing.

There are several fireworks that will give angel or fairy wings for about 10 seconds, and /jobemotes which give wings of various types for several seconds as well. I imagine SE could do something to make the effects permanent (fading upon death, logging out, zoning or using /jobemote a second time to cancel), but I suspect it is just a 5 second animation we play.

Additionally, we will have that play as a monster thing coming up so you could go there and play as a pixie.

honestly I wouldn't mind being able to play as the beastmen. I think it would be pretty neat but I know it would never happen. But on the other hand it wouldn't be too hard to code since the beastmen are basically based off of the Player Jobs.

Though I wonder, the amount of monay we pay on SE isnt enough to cover the development of the game?
I would really love to hear that they r planning to make a new area or anything new more than JA or Merits and WS

What do you guys think about development and the future of the game?

I'd rather have a set of armor with permanent wings on it. Preferably not moogle wings (http://www.playonline.com/ff11/event/vanafest2012/imgs/template/misc/item.png)...

If you want a new race every expansion, go play WoW.

I really like the idea of playing as beastmen though. and like I said it wouldn't be too hard to program since they already exist and have the jobs already. Also the fact that beastmen are evil don't even have to play a factor since there are good beastmen.

I really hate WoW, played it on a friend some years ago. I am not asking of a new race at every update, I just want to hear that this game has future ^^.
Thanks

ThanksHonestly it sounds more like a round about ploy to try and get a race change option, because, if they add a new race the older players would want the right to have that race without having to start over.
You know people are going to ask for it.

Your friend probably just had poor specs and thus you got a bad, laggy experience. Upgrade or replace your friend and you might find the game more fun.

My point wasnt to argue about WoW and everything but to talk about changes in FF11, for me the whole WoW idea isnt what I want from a game. But anyway, whats ur thoughts about FF11 development?

"go play wow" is the strawman defense against and gripe or complaint in any MMO that's not wow, and anyone who uses it is a vapid child

By hardwear do you mean things like shoes, jewelery, belt buckles, and helmets? I dunno much about helmets, but changing shoes, jewelery, and belts can definitely improve one's experience! All right! Let's go shopping!

Anyway! So, my vote towards a new race is no. Mostly because it would go against the main story of FFXI; Altana cried five tears for the five races, not six. The majority of the original, Rise of the Zilart, and Chains of Promathia stories revolve around the five races. The only other possible new race I could imagine (and would love to play) is Zilart... but even then, they're basically just humes.

If any new area's were to be added as ive stated many times in other threads i'd much rather they add the areas we know to exists but have yet to see like the far east, tenzen's home land perhaps an expansion focused on the phoenix? or even the mithra homeland.

Using the WoTG theme of time travel to go visit the galkan empire before its demise at the hands of antican, or visit the events that led to the fall of the zilart and getting a chance to meet the (wth was the race that became tonberries) before they were transformed or even perhaps one focused on the events that devastated the north lands which used to be a lush forested region.

Anyways point is the game is rich enough with lore and mythos upon which an expansion could be founded, honestly when they announced the WoTG expansion concept i was very disappointed (time travel to areas we've been to and altering events that had already passed vs going to new and exciting places), although i enjoyed the story line of WoTG what came with the expansion beyond that was equally lacking.

I'm ok with adding new races. Really, I'm not sure what the big deal is? Even if the new race is Male Mithra- which we know exist. Granted, female Galka just wouldn't work. Galka don't really have a gender, they just look very manly. Although being able to play around with their androgyny would be kind of cool.
Personally, I think it would be fun and really bring diversity to the game.

However, it doesn't have to be new races. I'd love for a new expansion, especially if it took us to the frequently mentioned Far East or the Mithra Homeland. It'd be nice to see the Elvaan homeland too.
Another thing that they could do is give us the option to change hair color and style. Just hair color will do. It doesn't have to be anything flamboyant like Neon Pink but for the most part there are five hair colors- barring the Tarutaru options who do have greens, blues, and that yellow to red gradient. My question is why can't we have the choice of those five colors or even include the Tarutaru hair color options. The character creation system is very limiting and so we end up running into the same model very frequently. It gets rather monotonous after a while, let alone x9 years of play. =\

In the end though, that's just my opinion and people are free to disagree.

I don't think male mithra would work too well. I hear they are not very good at combat.
