If we just saw your yell, why do you think we need to see it in a shout as well?

Please stop it, kthnx.

The reason is a lot of people don't have /yell turned on so they have to use /sh as well

I'd like to say that people with /yell turned off aren't the most likely demographic to response to anything in /shout either, and have /yell turned off for reasons related to that. That would make a lot of sense. I like things that make sense!

I can't, however, because I've discovered in my time playing Final Fantasy XI that people do stuff completely at random and there is no way to make sense of anything. It's best to just take the shotgun approach to everything involving other people because of roughly two billion things, none of which will ever make sense.

While we're on the topic: People who shout "GIVE ME ALL THE HATE!" in your provoke macro: why?

IS it just me? Or could they have just jammed the functionality of /yell into /shout and been done with it? Who are these people who have so many demonic voices in their heads telling them to do things that they just can't handle life in a world where other peoples text messages exist?

Sometimes i picture an emo kid with long black died bangs hanging over his eyes, sitting in his moms basement sweating off his mascara and freaking out because the really cute 8 year old girl voice in his head keeps telling him that he has to cut himself again every time that someone shouts in PJ about how bad spacedragon's linkshell sucks.

Maybe SE could just create a chat window in game that shows the feed from that guildwork shout app.

Unlike /shout, when SE first released /yell it was turned off for everyone by default. So there are probably many people with yell disabled that do not even know of its existence - they only see shouts.

It's also worth noting that /yell has a cooldown, and some people are impatient and can't wait 30 seconds to advertise again.

So I'm not sure this issue really applies anymore. /yell is being used pretty widely now.

It's cause nobody responds quickly to our alliance yells and we have nothing to lose, so there, we don't care about your chat log.

Yell is off by default but once you turn it on it stays on unlike before where you had to turn it on to see yells.

Yell is most definitely not turned off by default, and hasn't been for a while.

They don't even alternate which they use though, which would make a bit more sense. They /yell, 1 sec later they /sh, and then wait for the cooldown to do it again. They're not squeezing an extra /sh in there anywhere, and if they did spamming /sh every 15 secs isn't the best way to stay off of all of Jeunos blist to recruit anyways.

Who would want a guy who can't read lots of text in their group?

"Sorry, I didn't see that you were slept... Reading the log hurts my brain."

Yell covers the full city.
Shout covers the particular zone.

Why is common sense so hard to use with today's youths?

His point is that the people in the same zone as you still see the yell. You don't need to shout for the sake of reaching those people.

While we're on the topic: People who shout "GIVE ME ALL THE HATE!" in your provoke macro: why?

can we change the thread's topic to "it should be a bannable offence to have a /p line in your macros"?

and people who utilize both /yell and /sh confuse me.

if it bothers you to see both and you feel you dont need both just turn one off.

not everyone has yells turned on and not everyone is going to be in your zone so people use both, now if the person is spamming both every 30s use your blist and its problem solved.

Also note that shout doesn't actually hit the entire zone. The range of, I think, 150' means that people at the signet guard in PJ won't see shouts from the mog house.

It's true, I've tested that before. That's why you stand in the middle when you shout.
