I will say that my playtime is weaksauce relative to the ffxi community but when I tell people outside of the community how much time I've logged into this game they think I'm crazy. I know some people have put crazy amounts of time into the game (don't be embarrassed to tell us, you won't be judged....much)

I am just shocked there are people with more then me, never seen that before is why.They just stay logged in at all times. I have over 1300 days last I checked and I stay logged in 24/7. It boils down to not bothering to log out because it just means I have to bother logging in, and I started doing this since about the time the account hackings began years ago.

In total, actual gameplay time for me is probably around 800 days since 2005, which is still 20,000ish hours invested into FFXI, and believe me, it ain't something I'm proud of. It's been real but I'm not getting any younger and life has been calling for me to get off my ass for awhile now. Still, so much left to do in FFXI...

I joined the game in July or August of 2002. So far I'm at less than 150 days of playtime, I can't check for the exact time right now until I can get home and update my game. I've only deactivated my account for about 6 months total in that time period, and I only hit my first 75 as BLM just before the level cap increase was announced. Next highest job is WHM at 57.

At least 2 weeks of that playtime is me afk bazaaring during Easter events or asleep at the keyboard, from having to party late at night Alaska time and falling asleep from doing so.

I started with the JP PS2 release as soon as I could track down an HDD provider. An American release was uncertain at that time because of lack of a HDD release outside Japan, and a lot of importers were coordinating to work together on GameFAQs and FFXIOnline.com's forums. I know the JP and NA release dates. I have a Japanese account, and use it on American and Japanese versions of the game, depending on my communication needs at the time. I can't read Japanese very well for missions, but when I need to type it, using the Japanese client I paid for is the only way to not risk a ban for using a modification to allow Japanese input in the English client.
