Jobs you love and the negatives about them.

i LOVE pup, by far my favorite job. I have a 90 PUP and i dont like playing any other job anymore besides PUP. The only thing about PUP that bothers me is it still doesnt get the respect it deserves. Not only is the puppet master a greatt DD by itself but his automation is a force as well. pup/war is great for parties with the rng automation you are putting up a lot of damage. Also pup/nin is great for tanking with the whm automation out and the puppet master have good evasion skill i think mine is capped at 331 or 341.

People have a tendancy to generalize things and eventually they stick, often times ignoring the hidden strengths a lot of jobs can bring to a group if played correctly. It can be frustrating - but now that exp is so easily soloed on this game it's not the hindrance it once was.

Key is just group with your friends. Best way to avoid having to deal with ignorant biases.

I like Samurai and have no major complaints. I do feel that that it's odd that SAM only get a single level of Skill Chain bonus... but in general, it's nothing to stress over. It's just like SE isn't quite sure what to do with both DNC and SAM running around.

There's also that issue with Zanshin gear being everywhere, when the trait itself is somewhat lackluster to gear around. It IS nice to have, no doubt. But for the AF3 set bonus to support it? Ehh...

It's a pity my Japanese isn't better, I know there have been several threads on the job on the other forums - judging by the garbled mess Google spits out.

I also have issues with Thief at low levels, since it's utterly useless. The same can be said of many jobs, sure. But I really feel limited playing thief sub 24.

Not so! My DRK is 78 and I love the suicidal mess that I am :D I've died a lot of times on WAR...and DRK is getting up there lol. I just don't have self control and I like to see high damage numbers...which in turn, causes my HP to turn the opposite direction <.<; It's kind of a downside to the job, but I'm not complaining. I'm used to death...and in fact, welcome it with warm, tender, suicidal loving arms.

PLD, love my survival capabilities, even now. Soloing EXP/TE/KIs easily in abyssea. Phalanx up, full PDT, 2x MAB Atmas, 1x STP Atma and gather mobs, being hit for 0 all the time. Then just go Cataclysm wild. Good times.

May have lost it's traditional role as tank, but I'm positive it will regain it sometime in the future, so I won't complain.

WAR 'cause it wields Great Axes, and those are just awesome. Nothing says </3 like an axe to the face.

THF 'cause it looks hot and Flee is easily the best JA ever added in the game. When I first got THF to 75 I was still a bit underskilled (you don't get to tank much in traditional EXP parties), and still I evaded a lot. Especially with Trotter Boots it was fun never having to cast Invisible or Sneak again, you could just straight run through an entire zone, linking almost everything. And it taught me the hard way that Manticores have insane movement speed.

DRG is my main and was my first love. What do I dislike ? How damn frail the wyvern is ! BLM is now my 2nd favorite..just pure awesomeness. DRK is at 70 now and is my new work in progress.

Negative: No crit hit Kick Based weapon skill.

SE really seems to have been pushing Footwork into use a while ago, but with Abyssea, crit hit WS's are pretty important when dealing dmg. Due to my Unrsine +2 (2-4 hit h2h) having +0 dmg on it, I would like to be able to use crit hit ws with my feet which uses +58 weapon. Not dissimilar to a rng using a KC, but having a high dmg bow for WSing.

I swear. I love the guy, but his wings flapping in my face makes me really dizzy some days. And I'm not much of a first person viewer. But uh. I guess all I can really complain about Dragoon itself is that it lacks a decent AoE weaponskill. Sonic Thrust is great, don't get me wrong. But I feel I can do more with a more powerful sweep action.

Oh yeah, and Blutkralle's Healing Breath. I may just be complaining that I don't have my Wyrm Armet yet, but I think he's lacking in more potential.

Dislikes: i second the motion that the wyvern dies too easily. And therefore the new jumps become a lot weeker. Which leads to less tp gained. DRG's tp gain is what really makes it a fun DD to me nowadays.

Sane here Ica lol. Although since I have leveled up MNK I am on it less. But for along while I couldn't get off of it to save my life lol.

BLM was my first job. ATM it is my worst geared job though lol. A lot of power in a tiny taru. Downside I don't get to Magic burst as much as I used to.

DNC is awesome but, I have to agree that the timers for waltz's suck.

PUP is very underestimated. I do have to agree with the OP on this one.

SMN is the job I wanted to level when I started. I don't get to play it as often as I would like. For most end game its limited to buffers.

MNK is a job I have fallen in love with. Other then its kick attacks being not as good as I would want I am good. :)

SAM I am still learning the ropes. Thanks to all my SAM friends that have to put up with my questioning lol.

All my years of playing MMOs people usually like the Cookiecutter jobs. Never giving the unique ones a try.

PUP is great, my only issue is the automaton can sometimes be vindictive and wants to kill its owner for no reason at all and lacks a better AI.

My favorite job is DNC, I love it, my problems with it is Waltz Recast timers suck so much it hurts and Magic is like Cryptonite (SP?) But I guess that goes for most jobs as well.

Yes, mine does that all too well. She'll sometimes leave me hanging just to spite me but if i duo with a friend she's shawering him with love. God give her haste and she'd haste the whole party but me, that's how much she hates me. :P

I really never have this problem. The only time my automation (Genta) gives me a problem like that is if i am overloaded at the worse possible time. I dont get overloaded much at all but when i do it very bad timing.

Yeah, priorities for Automaton are similar to Fellow NPC priorities. Casting Paralyze on the mob is far more important than curing or casting paralyna on you. Would be nice if SE fixed the AI's priority to favor the master over the mob.

For me I would have to say that I love blu, but at the same time there are instances I hate it. Mainly due to all the gear I need to keep accessible for it. Gear for Physical spells, different gear for Magical, another for curing, another for tp/haste, and the list just goes on. Way too many gear swap macros/books for each function too >.< While I love the utility of the job keeping it well geared for each instance is such a pain. Even with 80 gobbie bag slots I still have to keep some of my gear in satchel/sack depending on situation I have to face. Another is the 2min Spell list reset. Ever since Abyssea !! process was figured out I find myself having to constantly reset spells cause of 3 possible elemental chances. I hate keeping all of them on for the 3 days cause it really lowers the overall "choice" spells I would rather have in for traits or damage after the proc has been made.

Your automation will cast spells depending on your attachments and manuevors it has up at the time, with priotize cure attachment it always cures me first before casting anything else unless overloaded.

I rarely get Overloaded. and i always have the manuvers up. Mashira just hates me to no end. I have had fellow PUP's that have watched her do it and they also went WTF she should be taking care of you not me. She will regen someone else even if I'm almost dead. Like I fellow PUP's don't understand it either and have said its not what I'm doing.

Might be a conflict of Priority+Spell queue? I don't know. I've only messed around on pup on a secondary account. I've seen what Kindra is talking about happen several times in abyssea with Pups in the LS. Pup will be close to dead and the Auto will cast cure or regen on someone sitting at 75% HP.

Yep Mashira hates me lol. she will cure and debuff herself before me and so forth. For some reason she just does it differently. My friends Automaton Bishop, takes really good care of him and he was surprised to watch Mashira do her thing. But at least now I know its not just me thats having that problem. :)

Negatives about them? Nothing except...my WHM is also 90 and I'm on that almost 95-97% of the time instead of the jobs I like :(

I agree with this some, SMN was my first job to 75 and still is my highest lvled job at 90.

One other thing I think they need to do is have a more consistent amount of damage the avatars deliver, There are times when a Pred Claws will deal 1500+ dmg to a mob( this is a base without buffs or atma) and then next time only deal 40-60 dmg. I'd like to see SE have a more balanced amount of damage done( i.e. if a mob is weak to a piercing attack then they get the full amount done were as a mob that is not only get hit with 25-50% of the BP).

RDM: The job everyone mysteriously knows how to play and will tell you the moment you let something slip, but they'll never want to play it themselves.

My long standing beef is that for a job that's supposed to be a generalist, its performance is slanted too heavily away from the melee spectrum. Your only hope of really getting noticed is to acquire CDC in some form, but your random Joe party leader would prefer risking some undergeared accepted DD over such a RDM when doing a member search, typically under the premise of, "If you wanted to melee, level a real melee job."

I love BRD but its minimal use is the worse part about it.. you stand there and sing a couple of songs wait a couple minutes and then rinse and repeat.. pulling adds a little more entertainment to the situation but thats also being rubbed out since most abyssea PT's don't need a puller anymore..
I would like to see 2 songs added, 1 would be a silence song for those pesky mage mobs and 2 either a regain or a TP boost song...
Now onto the melee aspect, I hate the fact that BRD has a B dagger skill and majority of the WS that a BRD can use is Dex oriented (With the exception of mordant rime) eversicion is lacking as an elvaan BRD I am stocked on CHR gear and its just annoying using low level DEX gear to macro for WS. I would like to get MR but im still trying to find people for the past few months to do nyzule isle so I can get the dagger for it.. *sigh* TP also sucks since fencer is an ability and you get 4-7 TP per hit with a dagger and it seems that your encouraging single handed use I would like to see if there is anymore offensive skills coming this way (double/triple/quad attack)
I also like SAM and the only thing I don't like about SAM is 3rd eye doesn't work against spells and when fighting anything higher then EM it wears off in the 1st 3 hits and you have 20ish seconds for a reuse.. Would like to see something done with this but this is probably also wishful thinking

I do understand what people say about their favorite mage job. I LOVE my SCH I find it to be fun as hell but man I am running ragged being on it 95% of the time not only that but I feel that healing on it seems to be useless since we have a D rank in Healing Magic and only have Cure IV. I get left out of good shouts because everyone wants a WHM and there is no way in hell I'd ever level that job.

drg is my first and main love. I love having a pet I can always count on and that I can keep alive easily enough, while it shoots unlimited cure Vs between party members.
I tend to like any melee job with the abilities to deal damage while supporting the party, so DNC and BLU are my other favorites but... I feel so lonely without Azure :( I can't really stay away from DRG much.
As for flaws, I think drg's only flaw is to not be able to customize wyvern's look at all. I'm not asking for something extremely drastic, but different breeds like for chocobos would be cool (even just color change depending on wyvern's role would be enough).
