wtf is up with squamous hide?

So, nearly two days of players exploring new content and still no sign of the item used for leathercraft guild test, not to mention a suit of hexed gear and a few other miscellaneous synths.

As near as anyone can tell, not one has materialized on any server. The internet is stumped. What gives?

After reading the post about where to find them, I went out to see how the drop rate is.

With TH7 THF (Asn. Armlets +2, Raider's Feet +2, Thief's Knife) I've killed 10 Drachenlizards, and have gotten 2 Squamous Hides, so I'm at 20% drop rate right now.

I'll kill another 10 here in a moment and post results.

*** Edit*** - Well joy.....I just died! These guys link. They also have a very potent Infrasonics (evasion down), even at nearly capped evasion skill I was getting hit and hit hard when the Drachenlizards use Infrasonics.

For those that want to farm these, I recommend taking a WHM mule with you especially if you get hit with the Evasion Down move. I did manage to kill 15 Drachenlizards, and still only the 2 hides that I had obtained from the first 10 kills. So 2/15 for now.

I'll give them a go with my 500 eva skill (+ JTs) THF and see how it goes. If eva is fine without infrasonics, could always just go /dnc and erase it straight away.

Yeah, my current evasion skill (no evasion+ gear) is @ 413. I toss on Boxer's (+10), Kila +2 (+20), Scorp Harness +1 (+12) on top of the other gear I use and it helps out a bit. But toss all that out the window if you get hit with Infrasonics. Maybe it will be different for you. Let me know how you do.

BTW, I killed another 20-ish Drachenlizards after my initial post yesterday, and only got 1 hide out of that. So I'm currently 3/35-ish. So it's now under 10% drop rate as TH7 THF.

Finally got around to killing these.
My eva setup has me at 580 eva incuding the 60 eva from job trait plus 95+40 AGI. There's room for more too, but I think that's enough.
They don't seem to use this move too often, so it's far from a brilliant sample, but I got hit by eva down just as I killed a mob so I left it on me (was /dnc) and melee'd the mext mob in my eva set. I pulled with a blind bolt for extra help, but because I wanted the mob to stay alive for testing, I didn't use exenterator for extra acc down.

It missed me 33 times total, 15 whilst mob wasn't blinded.
It hit me 12 times total, 8 whilst mob wasn't blinded.

Like I said, it's a small sample, but 12 out of 45 hits is ~27% accuracy overall.
8 out of 23 hits is #35% acc without blind bolts.
4 out of 18 hits is 22% acc with blind bolts on.
With Exenterator and blind bolts I'm sure eva would have been capped, and I'd have been fine as /nin.
As /dnc it's just easier to healing waltz and stay in TP gear though.
