View Full Version : Character Movement - Auto-run/walk Oddities

Going to repeat my report from the Test Server Bugs forum, here, now that this has (not surprisingly) gone live, with no feedback if it is intended or not. At least here it seems something was done with it. ^^;

Steps:


Press, and hold down num-pad key 8 (up-arrow) while the camera is viewing from behind the character (moving forward). While up/forward is used here as an example, any direction would work.
Press, and release num-pad key 7 (Home) to activate auto-run/walk (works with run/walk).
Press, and hold num-pad key 2 (down-arrow) for more than a second.
Character will not stop, unless the 2/down-arrow key is released within less than approximately a second while normally it would turn the character immediately.
While this has the 'advantage' of one being able to auto-run/walk in circles no matter what the camera-angle is without it being cancelled as it normally would when triggering movement backward, I do think this is not intended. It still does cancel, if the key to turn towards a side is released at certain point(s), however.

Tested with a mouse as well, but not with a game-pad though I'm quite sure it happens with one of such just as well.


Edit:

Something I noticed just now, in addition to what described in the old post and above: Movement works as expected when in first-person view, so this seems to affect only third-person view.

Ack! Forgot to add the "(Now Live!)" to the title at first. Would be nice if a moderator could add it while closing this as it will not look nice having 2 identical titles in my records!

having same problem on cerberus with meny people too, as is my self, i think its related with the new compact keyboard thing

its annoying. also /follow does not work half the time you get "follwo cancelled" message. keyboard is set on compact 1.

Yeah, it started on the test-server over a month ago, when I also reported it.

I figured that, due to the previous mouse-related error that happened in the previous update (which I also noticed on the test-server but imagined that they were aware of and would fix before implementing it), I would report this one early, before it goes live, but it would seem like it was a waste of my effort, and time.

Doesn't make the Test Server/Test Server Bugs section seem very useful at all. =/

Perhaps they did acknowledge it before this, perhaps not.
Perhaps they were simply too busy adjusting Me-te-or.

Perhaps... but they certainly did not let us know either way.


If nothing else, at least I learned not to waste my time and effort like that again. ^^;
