Most people don't know the difference between independent and dependent clauses, so it should be no surprise that people can't use semicolons correctly.

The thread itself is off topic. It's a troll topic that is irrelevant to the game and in fact the very people you've directed the thread at are the least likely to post in it.

It is, actually. It has nothing to do with FFXI. It also has a non-descriptive therad title, which violates the forum rules. It's also completely pointless.

I don't see why people are getting so upset. If you're getting upset, you must be lousy at English grammar. I agree with the topic being irrelevant to this section, but I'm also not going to complain about it being here. If you don't like it the thread, you don't have to read it. I'm sure the moderators will get to it without everyone crying.

I'm almost embarrassed, but I do know how to fix my mistake. I agree that the topic is irrelevant to this section, but I'm also not going to complain about it being here. I'm not as good at grammar as I thought if I still didn't correct the mistake.

I don't think it helps that grammar was taken off the curriculum in (certainly most) schools in England many years ago. I think now all they teach in the way of English is text speak.

It was the case for my secondary school, so I had to study it by myself. I read the same book, but I can't say that I like the fact Lynne Truss pretty much eggs on grammar Nazism in it, but I will admit it's got a good sense of humour to it and makes it easy to pick up grammar rules people frequently get wrong.

There's plenty of rules people break on this forums, but it doesn't get threads locked. Isn't it normal on a forum for moderators to step in, ask people to cease and then lock/delete/ban if members continue?
