Don't know where this goes but I've been looking for the Xbox 360 version of this game for a while now and can't find it anywhere. I ordered it on Square-Enix site even tho it says out-of-stock. I'm just wondering if I will get it any time soon. I am a long time player, I have been playing since NA release but only for PC.

Sorry if this is the wrong place but I couldn't find a better forum to post this in.

Edit: If anyone knows where I can order it online other than square-enix store so I can get it here quicker please let me know!

I got my 2007 Copy from Amazon, it was a second-hand purchase, but I was lucky to find it and I got WoTG from Ebay. I think your best bet is to try and get a second-hand copy, it's not easy to get a hold of.

However, Amazon.com is selling some copies of the 2008 edition, which gives you everything you need. As you're playing the PC version, I'm sure you'll have bought the add-ons too. $25 for used, $119 new though. There's a few different versions and expansions on ebay.com too

If you're in the UK like me, then:
FFXI 2007: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/xbox-360-game-FINAL-FANTASY-XI-ONLINE-2007-EDITION-BN-/280840006426?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item41635e6b1a#ht_500wt_1413
And WoTG: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Final-Fantasy-XI-Online-Wings-Goddess-Xbox-360-Very-Rare-/220970378190?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item3372dc63ce#ht_500wt_1413

Unfortunately they're pretty rare, so they're not brilliantly cheap in the UK. Though I managed to get mine for a good price.

Teegrins!

I would suggest contacting the store which you ordered the product from for this information. Being out-of-stock does not seem promising, that is for certain, and I don't think you can get even a remotely accurate answer here.

Perhaps a guesstimate at best.
Mine would be that it might never be in stock again. ^^;

However, as Saefinn mentioned while I was writing this, the game tends to be rather rare for this platform indeed, but there are some sources it still can be found from (as mentioned above).

In any case, good luck!

If I get a used copy would I be able to play on the 360? I own the abyssea collection for PC and have everything activated so I'm thinking maybe I could buy it used and install it on xbox then play with my account without the need of any additional keys or is this wrong?

now i'm not a scientist, but i THINK this will work. i did something very similar, just going the other way. i played on ps2 then xbox then recently installed the game on my laptop just so i'd have it when i was away from home.

since i had already purchased every expansion in the game for 360, when i bought the ultimate edition for pc i got a download code i ended up not needing. (was even able to give it to a returning associate and bam, they had all the aby expansions.)

so stuff like that seems to be connected to your account, not your platform.

Can anyone confirm this before I cancel my purchase from SE store and try to obtain a used copy?

As long as you have your log-in info it will work. Be careful about tying it to your Xbox Live account because whatever account you tie it to will be tied to it forever and if you lose your FFXI account or your Xbox Live account you can't use either with any other.

You can even backup your macros and map information so you won't have to write them all over again on the Xbox:

Backup
XBOX 360 Controller: LB + left stick button
Keyboard: Shift + Alt + Ctrl + B
Retrieval
XBOX 360: RB + right stick button
PC/Keyboard: Shift + Alt + Ctrl + R

You would need the Final Fantasy XI Online: Vana'diel Collection 2008 for Xbox 360. If you got the original release that only had up to ToAU then, you couldn't do any of the latest content like abyssea because you would lack WotG.

No new keys are needed to play the game on Xbox if you have a FFXI account already. Accounts are universal and work on any of the 3 platforms FFXI is on.

Basically all you need to play using a second hand copy is:
Your FFXI account
Final Fantasy XI - Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urghan and Wings of the Goddess

The 2008 version contains all of these. I found it impossible to get a 2008 copy, so I went with 2007 and got WoTG separate. I did get a glance at an unopened copy of 2008 for 360 when I worked for a second hand store, but the guy selling it didn't like the price he was offered and I had customers to deal with, so I couldn't run after him and offer a better deal.

Abyssea and the other add ons, they don't require anything, if you've bought them then they're bound to your account and you don't need install disks or anything like that. It's just the original game and its 4 main expansions. I got all my extra stuff from my PC version.

As a person playing on the 360 with second hand copies I can confirm that they should work. :) Just make sure you buy one that works with your 360's region, my XBox 360 is PAL, so all those NTSC US copies that I was able to find, they probably wouldn't have worked.

If you have the game on PC, why would you get it on the xbox? You want the courch experience? Just hook your PC up to a TV and use a gamepad or xbox controller.

Sadly you can't use an Xbox controller with FFXI very well cause the L and R triggers don't work because SE doesn't support XInput on FFXI. Since that came in directx9.

I just replaced the buffers with the functions of the triggers on my version for when I play on my laptop, sure I miss 2 functions of the controller, but not ones I find that important. Oddly enough I still prefer playing on my 360, I find it more responsive, my laptop's graphics card doesn't seem to get along too well with the game, it's a crappy Intel GMA, yet it manages SW:TOR just fine, but then FFXI isn't all that well optimised. However, for Besieged and VW I have to use my laptop because those events love crashing 360s. :(

To be precise,
A Crystalline Prophecy
A Shantotto Ascension
A Moogle Kupo d'Etat
require
FINAL FANTASY XI
PlayOnline
Rise of the Zilart
to be registered, and installed.

For the Abyssea add-ons, one needs to have
FINAL FANTASY XI
PlayOnline
Rise of the Zilart
Wings of the Goddess
registered, and installed.

Yes I do this but with a PS3 controller. I just moved into new apartment and my PC is not in the living room and will not be in there next to the TV. I could drag it out there to play but the real reason is for xbox party chat since I will be playing with some friends on xbox and the main friend doesn't have a PC for voice chat. I know it sounds silly but they are the only reason I am coming back to the game, lack of communication with them would be pointless for me to even play, after all your friends in game are what keep the game fun..at least for me.

That being said my friend forgot he had 2 copies of FFXI for xbox so he is going to ship it to me tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who helped out here!

My personal experience with this (today, I have it updating while I type this).

I picked the 2008 disc to replace my 2006 XBOX360 disc (all up to ToAU) and booted the game. It updated alright but WotG and all mini expansions that required it were grayed out (well it seems like just having the disc is not enough. I thought the update was going to fix it, but it was the last game update it downloaded).

I ended logging out and performing an re-install of FFXI, choosing it to keep macro data.

Now it's doing a full post reinstall update.

So if you have the old disc and don't want to go through this get the WotG disc. If you can't find a WotG disc but can buy a 2008 collection, save your time, install FFXI from on top of the existing install right away.

You hadn't installed the expansions from the 2008 disc yet on your Xbox. Collection discs don't let you install individual expansions, just like the PS2, so you have to do a complete reinstall.

I honestly dont recommend getting FFXi for the Xbox.
1: Its Laggy.
2: The Xbox Can't handle most of FFXI's Features, EX: Endgame, Besteigd, ectect
3: The WAAY to much money.
4: Its impossible to find at Retail shops (ex: Gamestop)
5: the start-up Patch is longer.

In all means you should just stay with the PC, Its better :3

Yes. You can play on any platform as long as you have an account.
