[dev1102] Job Adjustments: Black Mage
•New magic spell
•Meteor (Lv.99; Elemental Seal must be in effect)
•Deals non-elemental damage to enemies within area of effect.
*Casting the spell simultaneously with your party members will enhance the visual appearance and potency of the Meteor.
*Sound effects for this spell have not yet been fully implemented.

[Test Server Only]
•The spell may be cast without Elemental Seal in effect.Ok so my question is thus; In light of the fact that Elemental Seal is required to cast this spell, I am assuming it it so, but is it then subject to enhancement from such still?

>Elemental Seal
>Non-elemental spell

Also; won't know until it's tested. Since ES is a 'buff' it /should/ work by default unless they went out of the way to disable that - which I think is unlikely.

What the heck are you even asking?

Elemental Seal is not gonna 'buff' meteor. Because the 'buff' is actually its 'base' damage. There is no such thing as a non elemental sealed Meteor

too bad to give the master of elemental magic a non-elemental spell. irony perhaps?

Not really. We mastered the elements so hard we learned how to use a spell with no element. Called thinking outside the box :D

The thing is, since it's Non-elemental it means that it won't actually affected by Elemental Seal ^^;.

Unless, however, it's a non-elemental elemental spell, which would make no sense(but this is SE we're talking about)

Also, Elemental Seal doesn't increase the damage, it just reduces the chance that your spell will get resisted(which is a fair amount of the time depending on your gear/skill level) which brings it up to the precise base damage of your spell(i.e. unresisted) but still has a small, usually very small, chance of being resisted.

That is actually not correct, according to all tesing done with elemental seal over the last 10 years it was determined that the ability does the following;
"Dramatically increases the Magic Accuracy of the next spell cast (somewhere on the order of +256)." <-excerpt from BG wiki.

As to say it doesn't matter what the spell that is cast is, the MACC of that spell will be boosted tremendously.

Now the fact that ES must be active to even cast the spell means that the MACC of meteor is always going to be high therefor always dealing good dmg, and almost never getting a full resist.

I believe Meteor has always been non-elemental, and one of the pinnacle spells for Black Mages across all FF games, right?

If anything, the fact the ability is called "Elemental Seal" is sillier than it working on Meteor considering the major usage of the ability tends to be landing Enfeebles (mostly Dark and Light ones as well) and it works on spell types that don't even fall under the convention black and white magic skill sets.

So it should just be called Magic Seal?

So it should just be called Magic Seal?

If it were called something like "Magic Seal," people wouldn't be confused about it working with non-elemental spells.
