Addition of visible capes to the game

I wonder if the Devs have looked into the possibility of adding "visible" capes to the game... I know we can wear capes in our equipment screens but they're not visible on our character, as our hats, legs, gloves, body pieces etc.... is it even possible?

I think the closest we'll come is body gear that restricts the back slot - it could definitely have a cape in addition to potent stats to make up for the loss of a slot (but more likely it would look cool while having gimpy stats relative to what you could do with a separate body and back piece).

there was a thread like this a while back SE replied to, they said that because there are so many capes in the game it would be difficult to implement at this point, they also said capes would either have to be fluid, but would end up going through your character, so at times you'd have a cape coming through your stomach, or they would have to be static, which would look like we are wearing a carboard cape.

now onto capes, i personally wouldn't want them, i don't think they would look right, every job wears a cape but there are only certain jobs i feel like a cape would work with, PLD, BLM, maybe SMN and WHM would work with a cape. pretty much every other job i feel would look stupid in a cape, SAM, BLU, NIN, RNG (cape =/= cloak), SCH, DNC, THF so on. capes on body armour like that mini one on the pld af3 would work (just for decoration), but putting it on a pretty much compulsory piece of equipment wouldn't be fun for everyone, we are adventurers not super heroes, it would look wrong having everyone running around in capes.

They should make one cape that is actually visible on your character just for the fun of it, I think. FFXI while it's become competetive thanks to the nature of human beings, is still a game at heart and should be something to enjoy and laugh about as much as getting things done and bettering your virtual character. It doesn't all need to be work and making yourself optimal but enjoying yourself too, I think.

So having one "play cape" to run around in Port Jeuno in to yell "SUPERMAN" or "SUPERGIRL" would be fun once in a while to me.

i can agree with that, maybe an event item cape that actually appeared on your character wouldn't be the end of the world
