We all have fond memories of amazing battles.
The ones who make your hands shake, head sweat, and heart race. The ones were you put everything on the line to win, and refuse to go down. We all share these experiences in one way or another. One of my most fond battles is the royal jelly fight. We were down to two jellys, when they fused to make the queen jelly. I was DRK, while my partner was a PLD. We got it to less than 100 health, and the PLD fell. It didnt take more than me missing for the jelly to show me whos boss. I had RR on, and was in weakness. With everything on the line, and health in critical, I had one shot to win it all. With a forceful blow, the queen jelly went down, and in awe I reaped the awards of a hard fought battle.
So whats your favorite battle? Most memorable?

OH old meemeries, I remember this one mission fight where we whiped like 2 times ( this current time was 3rd i think)
where we won with all of us dead because the NM died to dia dot
lol thats an awsome start to a thread... Funny that some of these memorable fights will be laughed at in the future because of the raise of level caps and everything..
Wish I could add more to the thread but most of epic fights turn into epic fails...

lol my Maat SAM fight made me feel like that. Me and Maat used Meikyo Shisui at the same time and we both died. We used our 3rd WS together and as my Gekko killed him, the Fusion of his skillchain killed me. I couldn't believe victory was mine yet it was. I checked my title in disbelief a few times, but apparently his Fusion killed me like 0.3 seconds after Gekko took him down.

Hmmm most memorable... RDM maat fight. I thought my heart was gonna jump out and hit the screen lol
That and the final CoP and ZM fights pre-gimp. Awesome fights as we did it for our entire LS. Which meant doing that fight multiple times. Even some of the fights prior to the final fights were fantastic and memorable.
~edit~
Another comes to mind. The Rostrum Pump NM, Alastor Antlion, in Attowa Chasm. A few years back (pre-lvl cap increase) some of our LS members had stated some interest in getting the pumps so we gathered in Attowa and proceeded to fight that NM. The following day we came back to finish up and found another LS having problems as they were short-manned for it. After our LS ldr talked with their LS ldr, we agreed to team up and fight the NM until all interested had the pumps. It was one of the best times I had fighting an NM.

It'd have to be the last ToAU fight. It was about our 8th try, this time with a taru PLD tank. He did an excellent job staying alive until the last 10% or so. Time was running out, with the tank, blu and I think one of the BLM dead. The blu pops rr and goes insane winning the fight for us while tanking weakened. It was awesome. Not as impressive as his tanking the soulflayer in the mission before for the last 25% of it's health because the lame tank we had went down, but it was more memorable to me because we had tried and failed so many times.

Hmmm, most memorable fight. There's several, however the one that seems to stick out to me was a lowish level Fenrir Prime fight back in 2007. The Purple Dog was just running the train on us. All of the support and damage dealing jobs were down for the count. Our Paladin was the only man standing, and at the last possible second (Fenrir at 1%, PLD at 1%) a Banish spell for 1 damage earned us our win. Not EPIC by any measures, just something I'll never forget.

Miss kiting faf for the fun of it with Demo, and the occasional game of seeing how many times we could flail ourselves on purpose without wiping. I recall flailing it 4 times one fight and still doing just fine with it. Good times!

One of the most fun fights I've had was a duo (Drg, Whm) vs the three demons in the sam af helm fight. This was at the 75 cap and before /blu was an option. I had to run out of range of the initial big nuke after engaging them. After making quick work of the mage demon, it got easier but at one point it came down to a benidiction saving me after I dropped down to 30 hp. After a bad start and a major mishap in the middle of the match it felt so good to watch that last demon hit the floor. The win with two people was more exciting than the af at the time.

Good topic.
Mine had to be A moogle expansion when it first came out. The limit break was still 75, there were know real easy fights yet and everyone was still experimenting on how to defeat that evil fat Moogle lol. Anyways I went 0/4 cuz i went to other parties w/ leaders that didnt know squat on what to do... so eh i decided to start my own party. I did my shouts in WHG and got the jobs needed. When we arrived to Upper Castle right b4 the zone for boss fight i took like 15 minutes to explain the fight and what to do and not to do. LOL well we all were ready and went in and all i can say is oh shiznat adrenaline pumping, fingers typing fast, controller moving around like it has jet packs on the sides lol. Well we finally won and everyone couldnt stop thanking me and congratulating each other and what not lol it was great. That fight might be cake now, but when the xpansion first came out and know one really knew how to fight it was when it was a challenge and a lot of fun.

My first ever sky event, the great and powerful GENBU! It was almost 45 minutes, and I was only a level 66ish ninja full timing af legs. >.> Not really one of my proudest moments.

I remember fighting a random fafnir in early 2005, before the MPK patch where mobs despawn, and some noob LS was mad my LS kept outclaiming them. They pulled about 10 spiders on top of us, and made fafnir flail us. I was on RDM and the only one who lived threw flail. I promptly ran away from fafnir, and ES slept it, chainspell raise 1, then my LS recovered and we killed 3 or 4 of the spiders I did not manage to avoid, and fafnir, without it ever going unclaimed. It was a pretty amazing accomplishment at the time.

I'd have to say the final battle of CoP. Actually, most of the CoP mission bosses would qualify. They were extremely challenging, which made it all the more worthwhile when I finally won.

Like many of you, I've been through way more fights than I can remember. But I do remember one interesting fight with Hakutaku about 5 years ago to get a hat for my friend (around the time when Mazurka was exploited as a way to gank NMs from RMT because it built so much enmity so rapidly).
There were 7 of us: WHM, 3 BLM, a NIN, a BRD, and myself on RNG. The NIN did nothing and stood back. I was only there to keep up the DPS. The BLMs rotated stuns and nuked in their down time. And finally, the BRD; The BRD subbed NIN and back-tanked Hakutaku through the entire fight, spamming Mazurka for hate, and keeping March up for Utsu recast. I, as RNG, rarely pulled hate from this BRD, and the BLMs didn't even have a chance. The fight went exceptionally well, with no deaths, and the BRD proved they could be used as more than just support.
Nothing really exciting happened I suppose, but at the time peoples' perspectives were very different then. I was quite amazed at how well that went.

Airship fight, my newly leveled WAR60 at the time, just learned Raging Rush too. We went 0/4 and thought we'd go again, one final try at 4AM (I had to get up in 2hrs). Used up all 2hrs, all CCBs, food, med, etc. Ultima was at 3%, we had 40 seconds left, all dead. I was the only one with RR up and 72% TP. So I get up, no time for Utsu, just ran in, as soon as I was in range Ultima readied Antimatter. Fortunately it has 3s charge time, I double attacked to 100% TP, and Raging Rushed it to death the very last second, both before my death and before we timed out. Cleared it in 44min 56s (and ironically also almost broke record). Rarely felt greater than right then.
Although I seriously doubt anything, ever, will beat this..

I don't necessarily have a most memorable battle. I think the best ones are the hilarious ones where you just have to accept that you can't win. I came because of the title; I never had a chance to face any of the kings - and now I feel like I never will (I just started playing again last week - crappy timing right?).
Will I ever go to Dynamis? Probably not.
Will I ever fight Tiamat or Jormy? Seriously unlikely.
My most memorable fight was camping Rose Garden for 18 hours straight, succeeding and getting the claim, kill and ring - but it was all for my 75 BLM which really didnt need the Vilma's ring. I still wear it as a sign of my tenacity.

I'm sure there are enough people on each server to make at least one linkshell which I hereby dub a legacy linkshell.
Doing Sky, Limbus, Dynamis and HNMs just because. Figuring out the new strength limitations of the newest level cap against HNMs would be the hardest part. Do you really need a full alliance to beat Nidhogg still?
I'd happily take part in these parties/alliances.
As much as I want my Emp+2 gear, won't it just be the gear that everyone else has?

Mine was Diabolos during the time my Only jobs were 70 RDM and a 70 SMN.
First few tries were me trying to mana burn him, each time we got him to about 10% before he devoured us.
I just about given up hope the 5th try.
My LS lent a hand, a few people wanted to kill him as well and showed me the way of Zerging.
I was on SMN
We had a BRD
A RDM/DRK
two SAMs
and a MNK
We walked in, buffed, my heart was racing we jumped down the ledge and got into position. I was ready to bite the dust, I knew it was going to happen. The BRD Soul Voiced and double Marched Then the SAMs 2houred, then the MNK 2houred, then the RDM 2houred then I Astral Flowed. Before I could get Heavenly Strike off the second time Diabolos Fell. I sat there with my Jaw in my lap for a minute as to how the hell did we manage that fight and break the record.
We were all cheering, "Let's do it again!!"
Then one of our members fell to the ground from being Bioed, That was also pretty funny. I'll never forget the day I made a Pact with Diabolos. ;D
