Details:
For the WoTG Mission Fork In the Road one of the steps is to click a spot in Southern San d'Oria[S] next to the Lion Springs Tavern, on 4 occasions I have clicked this spot, the screen starts off white, then a cutscene starts, about 10 seconds in, the screen cuts out, goes totally black and the only way to get back to the game is to do a hard shut down. This is the only CS on this mission this happens with, I have obtained the key items and viewed the cutscenes for every other step in this mission
Steps:
Experienced a game crash while playing FINAL FANTASY XI.
Attempted to log back in immediately after the game crash by restarting the game.
Gave 3 tries but the result was the same.
Frequency: Always

Konoruck,
Problems with cutscenes can be caused by connection difficulties, especially during the transition, as your system awaits data from the servers in Japan. If that data is being blocked somewhere along the way, it can result in what you are describing. We do have a few suggestions to resolve this, provided below:
Suggestions:
1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC: TCP 1024 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535. Also, check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software/hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.
Please take note of the following:
• Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
• Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
• If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.

That would be great if you actually read my post that I play on PS2

That is very nice from support service, you can config your router using a pc and that will reflect on your ps2 performance.
However many ISP's don't allow you to change that. Also it requires to play with configurations that, if you're not careful, can screw up your internet connection. Try to call your ISP and beg they really hear you about this requests.
On the other hand i totally understand you, it is hella frustrating to deal with stuff that really we shouldn't be worry about.

Sadly Konoruck the only way to fix this is play on another system.
I played on PS2 since the release and started having these problems last year. After contacting SE, doing everything they said, contacting my ISP, doing everything they said, back to SE..... for months, I saw no change. I purchased a PC installed the game, and WITHOUT making all the changes they said were necessary and that I did on the PS2, the game works great.
SE is either lying to the players or to themselves when they say that the PS2 CS freeze and NPC problems are connection based. (At least in some/most cases, I'm not saying NOBODY has connection problems.) If you do what they say and it doesn't fix the problem, then your only bet is a new platform.
Strangely they will recommend you have a friend log you in and move you passed the part that is causing you problems....but isn't sharing account information against the Terms of Service?

Konoruck,
As mentioned by Belmonts, and as intended by my original post, even if you are on one of the consoles, if you are using a router or hybrid modem to share your internet connection with the console and other devices, then you need to ensure that the console has access to the indicated ports. So my troubleshooting advice still applies.
