Could we have an option to disable the battle music to begin when your alliance claims a monster or you draw your weapon?

Sometimes I'd rather the Ronfaure theme just keep playing, or the raucous Abyssea battle music just not start, and I can have the mournful, creepy, normal Abyssea music at all times.

In FFXII, there's no battle music at all (excluding bosses). I remember in an interview, one of the developers said that it was decided that battle music would hurt the environment of the game. I think that often is the case in FFXI too now. I'd like to be able to pump up my volume to make the normal (extremely quiet) Abyssea music audible, without having the battle music start blaring as soon as we start fighting.

Lastly, I'd like if this option were available as a text command, so that I could very quickly reenable the battle music when I step into one of those "silent zones" like Crawler's Nest or Riverne.

PS: In case they judge feedback by the amount of likes it gets (some people are speculating that this is why the Japanese users get a lot more attention), hit like if you want this feature.

I can't see why they couldn't add another option to the /battlebgm command to make battle music remain off completely.

OST tend to not be produced to loop as they do in the game.

Step 1: insert CD.

Step 2: press play.

Step 3: Press repeat.

Step 4: you do the maths.

Step 5: Profit :)

Isn't that already in the game? Just /battlebgm off I think is the syntax of the command.

Grrr, I have been going to make a thread like this, or rather bump up the thread below after a full year hath passed but oh well, figured someone would ruin my fun! :b

Disable battle music
And no, external music is not the solution neither is 'hacking' the game files.

As far as I can remember, it only changes the music to be played when a party member or the player engages (off) versus only when the player engages (on).

Considering there are battlefield areas such as Dynamis and "burning circles" which already have no additional track for 'engaged', I'm quite certain this should be very much possible. Of course there is always the possibility that something would be messed up if they touched it. :S

So yes, this would be a nice addition indeed.

Just some thoughts~

Sorry but since when was turning the game music off and listening to a CD not a solution?

Since when do people still use CDs for music that's what I want to know.

I've gone into config and turned off the music on all of my chars, even the area music gets annoying after it's played for 5 minutes, especially after 10 years of the same damn song... I have replaced the sound files for bard songs many times over the years just to make listening stable. Currently string is Angels and Airwaves, horn is the Doors "light my fire" and vocal is Youth Brigade "trust".

Usually I just have one of my Pandora stations running in the background (through the downloaded player, not browser). Word to the wise, do NOT run a youtube playlist while playing the game, even on a monster system it doesn't take long to use up all of your video/memory resources and the game will turn into a non-connection based lag-hell.
