View Full Version : Joke Weapons

I would love to see joke weapons that make goofy noises when you hit. Such as a rattle/morocco for a club, or boxing gloves for h2h. That would make some awesome flavor for FFXI. They could all have 1 dmg, and realistic delay, but a secret effect that they can do no more than 1 damage per hit. That would be just for fun.

Then maybe getting them would be a quest like the job torques, where you get either a special emote or weapon skill related to that weapon. The weaponskill, if that's the route, would be a just-for-show goofy weaponskill that does crappy damage, but is funny/colorful to watch, like fireworks that cost tp instead of items.

Club Hammer (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18866/club-hammer) says hi.

Also Moogle Rod (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18401/moogle-rod), Nomad Moogle Rod (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18842/nmd-moogle-rod), Maestro's Baton (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18880/maestros-baton), Chocobo Wand (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/17074/chocobo-wand), Rounsey Wand (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18879/rounsey-wand), Caver's Shovel (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18600/cavers-shovel)... and a multitude of holiday event items. Take your pick.

I'm not meaning like holiday weapons, though dream bell and the wooden katana have goofy sounds to them. I'm meaning actual joke weapons where their theme is: a joke. The rest of those that you mention seem to follow that holiday's theme, but not the flavorful joke weapons like they have on some other Final Fantasy games.

Club Hammer/Caver's Shovel are from MMM, not a holiday. You can also make Lady Bells with Goldsmithing.

Ah okay, still doesn't change me wanting to see a whole set of joke weapons. Even if there already are some out, a whole set of 13 joke themed weaons would be nice, with throwing as ranged. Or even 20, with 1 for each job. And each weapon can have something like this:

Boxing Gloves
(Hand-to-Hand)All Races
DMG:1 Delay:+0
Allows use of "Knock-Out Punch"
Lv.1 MNK PUP (Assuming there's one of each weapon, rather than one for each job.)
-It's 1 DMG instead of +1 DMG because it does maximum 1 damage per hit.
-Knock-Out Punch is a special weaponskill that's meant to just look goofy, like job emotes that do alittle damage.

Why waste resources on useless crap?

H2H weapons cannot be DMG:1, they always are DMG:+0 or higher. But a hidden effect that caps damage at 1 is possible.

Still, the whole concepts is too much work for a joke weapon. Boxing Gloves with just a sound effect is okay though.

Now, if the Caver's Shovel would allow you to dig like a chocobo...

Or even enhance mining effects, both concepts would make me actually try to get one.

Why waste resources on useless crap?

Same reason they made Dream Bell + Dream Robe set, the Dinnerwear Set, the Novennial Sets, the Tuxedo and Wedding Dresses. The game isn't just a statfest, it's also a role-playing game.

Why waste resources on useless crap?

A two handed all job lvl 1 rubber great sword wouldn't be junk. Joke part: when it hit's it makes wabbly sound. It'd be great if it looked like or is Cloud Strife's (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Cloud_Strife) Buster Sword (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Buster_Sword)!

I've been wanting something like this for years. Every other weapon has a low level counter part. Something like this would be be really nice for freeezebite triggers.

:o DO YOU HEAR ME SE? BUSTER SWORD CAN I HAVE IT PLEASE! :o

If wasting resources on junk is a bad thing why not just make the chaosbringer (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Chaosbringer) all jobs?

It'd be fair for everyone and make the weapon multi-purpose. Oh, don't forget to hit like if you agree or want anything listed above.

Now, if the Caver's Shovel would allow you to dig like a chocobo...

Boxing gloves hidden effect attack damage reduction 50%
Boxing gloves hidden effect guard damage reduction 50%

Then they would actually be useful for something.

If it's a non-elemental magic based WS I'm all for it!

Is there an all jobs joke scythe? I've been looking for that but haven't found anything.

No, but there is the Ark Scythe (http://www.ffxiah.com/item/18563/ark-scythe) that transforms you into the crystal ark angel taru.

This isn't listed on wiki.ffxiclopedia.org (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Ark_Scythe) at the time of this post.

It doesn't say all jobs but is still very good. IT SHOULD SAY ALL JOBS. Technically, I think it's all jobs. I counted 20 jobs in the list of jobs that could use it. Why didn't SE just say all jobs instead of adding the whole list?

So all procs on a single job is exclusive to people who participated in that real-life bonanza? That's pretty shitty!

Oh, wait, i guess both Koki and Ei is possible on war/nin now if you have a lot of pretty rare gear.
