Why is Red Mage being shoved under a rock, can you at least tell us the plans for this job or will it just fizzle out. I think we deserve an honest answer.
It was one of the most popular jobs and nothing has been done for it in years. My 99Rdm is in storage with full gear, no one wants to include Rdm in any event unless desperate, really desperate.
Thank you

Anyone want to make suggestions for the weird thing I should eat if there's actually an official response to this?
I'm leaning towards "drink a half-gallon of sriracha and chocolate syrup and fernet branca" but I feel there must be something both better and worse out there.

I'm leaning towards this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41vY5sysKML._SL500_AA300_.jpgAss Blaster Hot Sauce (http://www.amazon.com/Ass-Blaster-Hot-Sauce-Outhouse/dp/B000Y3QINQ)
EDIT: Actually, while I was looking for that hot sauce, I found exactly what we need so that we can find out what the future of Red Mage holds. Read the reviews and then let me know what you guys think. I'm thinking that I need a pair of these: Denon-AKDL1-Dedicated-Link-Cable (http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AKDL1-Dedicated-Link-Cable/dp/B000I1X6PM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)

Bag of popcorn with curry powder, butterscotch, melted cheese and crushed red pepper.
Please respond to this thread SE I want this to happen. Besides, RDM is one of the few to not get an update thread.
Having seen Frank's post (made while I typed mine) I say replace butterscotch with his idea.

Optimistically, I think if I just started drinking that then vital parts of me would go numb before it could really kick in. Pessimistically, I know how bad it hurts to pee out improperly diluted weird stuff while dehydrated and taking lots of strong medications (not much objectively, more than you'd think before it happens once). So, I can begin to imagine the effects that habanero juice would have while making it's exit.
There would be no sitting. There would be no squatting. There would be flailing and crying and screaming.

Lol, did anyone else notice they moved it to RDM without saying something like they normally do? Perhaps they fear for Spankwustler's health? Maybe I'm overthinking it.

We've been asking them for information and offering suggestions of all sorts for awhile now. Their not really listening, the most we got is.
#1 No Cure V, but will look at reworking Cure formula to make it more skill focused
#2 No AoE buffs for RDM, WHM will get AoE or party buffs, RDM will get self-target buffs.
#3 Will look into reducing NM's resistance against enfeebles
#4 Possible look into distribution of weapon skills (this is from the Abyssea team, don't think the current guys will consider doing this)

Well Gravity II could actually have ~some~ use if the NM wasn't immune to it. -40 evasion is pretty big, that's +20% hit rate to the entire alliance. It match's well with Dia III on anything that your not capping evasion on. Of course all current NM's are completely immune to it, thus it's mostly a pointless spell.
I've have found one use for it so far, inside Dynamis Buba me and my friends like to fight the DC mobs for +2 drops. The DC crows have ridiculous evasion for their level. From what I can tell their THF mobs. Gravity II is pretty useful on them.
But yeah .. that's the only situation I've found it useful in the game, which is kinda sad now that I think about it.

I actually got a bottle of this crap a few years back from a friend of mine who is a "Gourmet Foods Distributor".
I put a few drops in a pot of soup I was making and ruined it. I then proceeded to sabotage peoples food at work for a while until someone vomited, so I threw it out. Good stuff.

How do you figure -40 evasion is +20% hit rate. That calculation only works when the target is the same level as the player. For every level the target is above the attacker, we get a -4 accuracy penalty as well, so -40 evasion on a level 120 target hardly affects their evasion.

Umm ......
-40 evasion is exactly +20% hit rate until you hit the cap @95%.
The accuracy formula is linear. 2 acc = +1% hit rate. 2 evd = -1% hit rate. When acc and evd are equal then you have a 75% base hit rate. For each level the monster is above you it gets another +4 evasion bonus for LCF.
This if your at 60% hit rate, and some lands Gravity II on the monster you now have 80% hit rate until it wears. Of course 60% hit rate .... yeah.

It's -2% Hit rate per dLvl, rather than Accuracy.
-40 Eva is always +20% Hit rate when hit rate is unbounded, but it has a reduced/null effect when your hit rate is already at/past either the upper or lower bounds.
Example: Going from 90% hit rate to 95% (upper bound), or going from 20% hit rate to 25% hit rate (original Acc check bringing hit rate below lower bound).
In practice? You're usually at the upper bound these days anyways if your gear isn't trash tbfh.
Ref: Hit Rate (%) = 75 + floor( (Accuracy - Evasion)÷2 ) - 2×(dLVL)

I know I shouldn't of hit show post but I had to see how you'd try to make this into an arguement.
What I posted, just for clarity.
-40 evasion is exactly +20% hit rate until you hit the cap @95%.
+4 evasion = -4 accuracy = +2% evasion rate = -2% hit rate
Their all the exact same.
Talk about semantics .....

Argument was where?
I posted a clarification, and a minor correction as you both incorrectly asserted that level correction had an affect on the Acc/Eva ratio.
I then made a practical observation about how the entire conversation was fairly irrelevant because accuracy auto-caps on everything in 2012.
But hoookay then.

Actually ... LCF does play a role.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Hit_Rate
When the defender is higher level than the attacker, the attacker is imposed a 4 accuracy penalty for every 1 level difference
Example:
Lv75 character hitting Lv85 monster, where the lv75 character has the same amount of accuracy as Lv85 monster.
Level difference = 10
Accuracy Penalty = 4 acc/level * 10 level = 40 accuracy
Hit-rate = 75% + (-40) * 0.5% = 55%
Hit Rate = 75% + (Accuracy - Evasion)*0.5% + (Attacker's Level - Defender's Level)*2%
And just for you GG.
http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/77707-Math-calculations-for-FFXi
(PlayerLevel-MonsterLevel)*4 is the level correction factor, it's simply included in the formula you used.
to clarify:
Level Correction is a penalty you take for fighting monsters above your level, approximately 4 evasion for every 1 level of difference(either way). In the case of Greater Colibri, they have a base evasion of 339, but they are 7 levels higher than you, so they gain the equivalent of 28 evasion to total 367 level corrected evasion. This means that you need 367 accuracy to attain a 75% Hit Rate on the monster. In order to find your actual hit rate, you take your accuracy, subtract the monster's level corrected evasion from it, divide it by 2, and then add it to the 75%.
And if you took a few minutes to pull your head out of your fifth point of contact you'd notice that I already said,
This if your at 60% hit rate, and some lands Gravity II on the monster you now have 80% hit rate until it wears. Of course 60% hit rate .... yeah.
Which indicated that if someone had such low accuracy that they would actually get the full +20% then there are bigger issues at play then the effectiveness of Gravity II.

It's a difference in terms. Yes, dLvl affects hit rate. No, it doesn't change acc or eva. It's not an "Eva bonus", or "Acc penalty", just a penalty to total hit rate. Call it nitpicking, because it works out the same either way and only comprised a minor portion of the post.
Already posted the formula in post 1, bro.
