View Full Version : Bastion battles should be more frequent, or we need inter-Abyssea fluxes for Bastion

Bastion enemies advance very sluggishly. To go from 90% to 100% took nearly 20 minutes today (had about a minute left on Call Wyvern). Also, when it's at 100%, there's still maybe a minute's delay before the sergeant declares the battle has started.

After I participated in that fight, the other Bastion battles for Misareaux weren't even 50% ready, so if 10% preparations = 20 minutes (rounded up), that'd be about 100 minutes till the next Bastion.....

So, could we just have the enemies' attack preparation % go up faster? Like 1% = 1 minute? Or better yet, could we have new veridical confluxes for the Bastion zones to warp between Abyssea - Vunkerl/Misareaux/Attohwa? I wouldn't mind having to get my atma and cruor buffs again; I just don't want to have to go maw to maw. Bastion isn't lucrative enough to be worth the time and effort of maw-hopping, considering the battles can end in 5 seconds.

Thank you for the consideration.

eh.. after I do them for a bit, would get a "feel" for how long to wait outside the maw based on the percentages. Then it's just a matter of checking with the prefect or his sergeant (at base camp where you first enter the maw) for the status of each of the attack vectors---if none are near a % for advancement, just exit and wait. If you are in the city, can get the state of the resistance in a similar fashion from the teleport NPC's to know if they are about to get attacked as well before warping out there.

System just needs a greater overhaul to better resemble Campaign in participation potential. Ideally, 20 of every 30 minutes should have some form of combat going in a given zone instead of players waiting longer for mobs to show up than it does for them to obliterate 1% martellos with no ward defenses to speak of.

Campaign can take forever for attacks too. I think the rate of Bastion attacks is dependent on how your win ratio is though. If you lose a lot, the attacks take longer to arrive. So the mechanism is already there, just that it's not done enough to matter.

They should probably buff the NPCs again.

you can get your clone wards and/or buff the martello or NPC's a little by simply running an op once per game day. Sometimes that is the deciding factor for a solo win, and it only takes a couple minutes to run some of those ops. You can also /mage and buff them with prot/shell/haste (or even just shining ruby) as well. Buffing them has the added benefit of a boost to your xp/credits on the first kill as well.

Bastion is totally random from what I have seen. It doesn't always take 20 minutes for every 10%.

It is not random.

Bastion advances as players kill normal monsters in the area. You'll ifnd that when there are EXP groups in the area, the battles come much faster.

You can make Bastion's not last 5 seconds if you 'ga all the enemies before they reach the Martello, I do it all the time on RDM. The NPC's run out to you that way.
