-System: Seems like another zerg fest! I think you should take the suggestion from some post in the other thread and incorporate some variety to it... Something like the moving floor in Diabolos fight etc. As it is, just seems like zerg boss one while someone kites the other two mobs or holds them.
There should also be some place to rest, it seems once you wipe its over.

-System:
There did not seem to be adequate time to recover from KO weakness. In order to recover the player seems to have to run around haphazardly and rest, while trying to avoid the giant aggro radius.
-Battle:
Challenging but not impossible getting past second wave and then to boss seemed impossible. (This was on our second run. We used the the "split into teams" strategy. )
Other feedback and opinions
Need a corridor to safely rest in to recover from weakness.
Music could be more unique instead of the standard BCNM music. (Ending battle music [Final Fantasy Prelude] was a nice touch though.)

-System:
Overall it's seems good but need to work on making the content "Battle-friendly" for DD's due to the mass death and no RR if die twice. Ideally would like an NPC in 3 zones incase of congestion for players so that there's no competition, and that people are able to freely do Legion on a set time.... Ideally i would like the maximum of 18 people due to the lag and the zone's made bigger because 36 people in that small zone is quite crowded
-Battle:
There are a few changes that I would like to see in Legion
Auto RR - Similar to WoE due to mass death and it would be impossible for a whm to get a lot of people raised if they get killed twice in a row before managing to get RR up
Make the entry requirement a little easier (if 18+ then get the tome to be shareable and linked so that one person can use the item and 19+ can all be warped into the battle arena)
The Zone need to be slightly bigger so we can have just a tad more space to work with.
Legion would ideally be good with 18 people due to the Lag that we get for having more than 20+ people in the zone
Other feedback and opinions
It was actually very hard to try and get the win on THF and I'm worried that Legion would become another "SMN burned" content as it's extremely non-dd friendly
And also if it this tough fighting T1 then it's going to be extremely un-friendly to people who aren't a relic/mythic/empy holders

-System: can be fine if tweaked a bit
-Battle: very hard, had a Corse, Vampyr and Dvergr type mobs first tier, impossible to recover from whipes due to HP aggro range and mobs wandering, also AoE charms make it too difficult to hold mobs while the rest of the party kills another mob that also AoE charms.
Other feedback and opinions I would just remove the HP aggro altogether from this as it's such a small room, maybe make them do less AoE damage, otherwhise it could be fine

-System: I have no complaints about the system, seems like a good implementation to have only the alliance leaders in charge of entering the run and everyone else gets transported automatically. Feels like how Einherjar SHOULD have been, so well done here.
-Battle: Hall of Skies, Behemoth, Wyrm, & Turtle. We learned the lesson that the NMs need to be kept further apart, and perhaps the arena feels a little small for this. I suppose it's an intended part of the challenge. The overlap is what killed us, but I feel that's more a learning experience on our part.
Other feedback and opinions
The one comment I'd like to raise, is that I'm surprised to see temporary items of any sort in this event. I realize that it's very limited in that only the person who killshots an elemental obtains one temp item, so this is a bit of relief. I would like to express, however, that the Dev. teams take extreme caution with any further implementing of temporary items. Temp items in quantity take away greatly from the importance of skill and managing yourself efficiently. I don't mind them in this form, but I don't want to see the door opened into another full-blown temp item-based event like Voidwatch has become.

-System: the system seems fine, the undead blood aggro is a bit much, the zone seems a bit small too. If only there were an entry hallway similar to the doomvoid fights where we could pull monsters to.
An ability to buy temp items prior to entering with legion points would be cool, such as terror, doom screen (maybe add a charm one?)

-System:
The system is decent but once you wipe it's very hard to get back up.
-Battle:
I wish something would be implimented where people can rest safely, perhaps make the aggro range smaller or make the arena a little wider because meteor has a big range when you're weak!
Temps would be cool, like maybe after killing 1 NM you get a few random temps. We're lucky on the test server to have free reraise items, too bad it won't be that way on server!
Other feedback and opinions
More drops! I did a few legion runs before this where we didn't wipe and after clearing the floor only 1-2 items of value would drop with a rather large alliance. I'm getting a head ache imagining people fighting over items!

-System: Area with the undead seems like a bit much. 2 charming mobs at once, and the other has some nasty AoEs. Definitely needs a place to recover, or perhaps make them non-aggro but linking? Also, alliance hate is annoying.
-Battle: Kinda felt like fighting 3 VWNMs at once. Certainly had HP comparable to Kaggen or something. It feels like only the most skilled linkshells (say, the ones that can farm Botulus Rex?) will have a chance at completing Legion in it's current state.
There also was a few glitches with spells, I don't know if it's test server specific though. Sleepga looked like Flood and Dispelga looked like Addle.
EDIT: After doing round 2 in the undead hall, I can safely say that Charmga and Death NEED to go. At the very least, they need to be nerfed. We lost primarily because the Vampyr did charmga on all the (Embrava'd) melees, and then the Dvergr casted Death on the PLD holding him. Please limit the NM's ability to charm players in Legion.

-System: Addition of elementals to provide "side" challenges was a nice touch. It allowed me to have a source to use Drain II to heal back up without drawing attention from the main HNM's. Their HP was low enough that they don't pose much of a problem to any single Drk or Dd-Mage!
-Battle: I'm sure the others have already posted that the alliance hate of most of the HNM's is a little overboard, seeing as a premature wipe could very well mean the end of the event! However I was personally able to unweaken twice likely due to everyone else dying. Damage to the NM's seemed fair, but without buffs and the proper chat filters i'm unsure of this!

-System: I like the entry system. Not having to trade 100 lamps is nice.
-Battle: Overall I enjoyed the battle, was fun. We managed to kill 3 mobs with just random people thrown together quickly, so I think difficulty level is fine. However, I think you should increase the time limt to 45 minutes. Perhaps 60, if the boss is hard, but from what I've seen 45 sounds just right. Killed the first wave in about 22 minutes. Could probably drop that to 15 easy. Maybe even 10 if everyone got the hang of it.

-System: Easier to participate when having only the party leader handling the key item(s) required for participation, instead of having to duplicate an item and pass it on to other members. So that was great.
-Battle: More time!!! The time limit 30mins - 45mins isn't enough; the enemy strength is more than sufficient, probably too powerful at times, however allowing for 1 hour should be sufficient to progress deeper... maybe allow for the possibility of at least one time extension if you won't allow for the additional increase in the time allotted.
Other feedback and opinions
My automaton's magic attack was doing 2.4k to 2.5k in nukes per nuke and the Spiritreaver head nuked accordingly depending on the enemy's elemental weakness, so no complaints there.
Perhaps add the random temp item acquisition to ease the battle a little; maybe if certain battle conditions are met 30 mins in or 50% of the way through the battlefield objectives, then temp. items would be available---perhaps the ability to choose in advance which temp. items would be available for your character depending on whether the job is melee or mage.
I believe because of the uniqueness of the battle; create some brand new, never before seen high level NMs for boss mosters--instead of palette swaps...or monster models already in use... perhaps even a different dungeon setting for the battle.

-System:
Very fun. Takes a good amount of strategy, different strategies for different setups.
Time limit may need to be re-evaluated. perhaps give an addition 10 minutes after completing each wave.
Room was tight, provided a challenge in position 36 players to avoid AOE as much as possible.
-Battle:
Seemed like the standard HNM abilities. I feel these NMs should get new abilities and or exhibit different behavior than their counterparts.
Pretty straight forward after strategy was set up, no major twists throughout the fight. Meteor and touchdown created a challenge in keeping healers alive.
Other feedback and opinions
This will be an interesting new addition to endgame. It resembles einherjar, however being strictly NM fights is what sets it apart. Go along this route more to separate it further from how einherjar is set up.
This event should be all about strategy. Keep implementing tasks that make the players think about what to do next, instead of blindly attacking.

-System:
Nice new battle system, I like that the ally leader controls entry, saves time and people won't get left out by accident.
-Battle:
I was in the group of 21 (first run, 2nd run 18) that did the undead mobs. First run was pretty much a complete deathfest, 2nd run went pretty smooth until the Vamp got down to low health and started killing people. I think some adjustments probably need to be made to those mobs, especially in regards to charm and the fact that recovery is near impossible if you have a wipe or a near wipe. Also, make Holy do 99999dmg to bats named Bayohne, kthx.
Other feedback and opinions
Overall a nice new event, nice to have something new and challenging. Hopefully if there are adjustments coming, they won't be too severe, don't want an easymode event, but as it stands, the dvergr/vamp/corse are seemingly near impossible to do.

-System:
No real qualms with the system. A full 5 minutes in the entry lobby would be ideal, though. Or, alternatively, player HP/MP could be restored when moving from the lobby to the battle. I often found myself caught off guard when the leader entered the field while I only had 600-700MP after buffing multiple parties, and the battle starts almost immediately upon entry.
-Battle:
Overall, there is a fairly large difficulty gap between some of the NMs. Myself and one Paladin were able to duo the Dvergr down to 25% pretty much alone until it started using Death spell. On the other hand, 14 people in the Main alliance were completely demolished by the Vampyr and his Charmga.
This might become less of a problem in the future if WHM is given some sort of Charm-removal spell. As it stands right now, that is the second largest obstacle to overcome in this wing.
The first is, again, the wonky Aggro mechanics. Monsters were chasing people down from the other side of the map for no apparent reason. They seemed to both idle after kills and possess some sort of Alliance hate, and it only really served to confuse the group and prevent us from recovering properly if we died. If it's out of the question to remove this wonky system, it would be helpful to at least be able to Gravity the NMs so that they can be held properly in case of a wipe. Hopefully the upcoming Enfeebling adjustments will address this?

The way the game deals with entry is very refreshing, feels more organized this way. Also the lobby is a great way to sort out any remaining loot.
-Battle:
The fight itself is challenging in a good way and temporary items are distributed in a way that is not overpowered. There is an issue though when the group wipes. The monsters wander in a way where it's very difficult to recover since everyone is always at risk of aggro.
Other feedback and opinions
I thought this event was extremely fun, it's great that the reps were able to show off the new events while keeping it very casual. Everyone had a great time too and we all got to see first hand how this event will play out in a real setting.

-System:
The preparation outside of legion followed by the "lobby" prep zone inside seems a bit redundant. Buffs can't be issued outside and carried inside? Our party set up was split into 3 alliances and the initial plan to split 2 alliances into 3 while in the lobby. For such strategies issuing a page to multiple alliance leaders could help avoid confusion especially if certain individuals disconnect prior to entering.
-Battle: While our strategy was much improved the second round, I can't see much more damage being dealt in a time span of 30 minutes. Recovery and rebuffs for persons who die at any point during the first or second waves is a considerable expense for other mages who at the same time are supporting the remaining persons battling the still standing foes. I noticed a small amount of downtime in between the first and second wave, but the enhanced difficulty of the second wave (with 10 minutes remaining) didn't allow for much of an opinion! XD

Thoughts on content:
The DKP system on drops which is what will inevitably take place is kind of a bummer. It would be nice to use credits towards all drops. While the chance to not have to spend credits through random additional loot pool drops is great, having the "Dropped" rewards, different than the "Bought" rewards limits player's accessibility towards working on accomplishing that goal. The real satisfaction of walking away from an event knowing you gained at least a small portion of some goal is a very welcoming environment for players to thrive and enjoy their various events, even if they need to do a repetition of content. Individual growth potential through all events is a plus in my book.
The Wyrm, Behemoth, and Turtle room was sort of a bland environment to have such an epic battle in. I really liked that VwNMs were scattered around the globe in different zones and surroundings. Maybe the terrain is designed to create some form of strategic advantage for friend or foe alike, I do not know. It would be nice to see some scenery and maybe a little bit more lore to why there is a 5th book floating around out there. Did Hogwarts' library unionize and rehire with SE? I am cool with that.
-System:
I do agree that 30 minutes pushes it to become a straight zergfest. I do not mind such fests because they are very fun. It could become very formulaic over time and limit job selection down to the "ideal" configuration. I do not mind temp items. An endless supply of them does tend to be broken, maybe limit the frequency of the bonus monster but also give the same temp to everyone in the room rather than the sole person. A time extension or a little bit of a reduction in the hit points would make it a bit easier to clear I imagine, but we do not want to make it boring and super easy. I didn't recall how often we can enter, twice an earth day I think would be good, do not have to spend all day in there, but you can also at least re-roll after your first attempt. Even if you wipe your first one, the mistakes are fresh in your mind and you get another crack at it with the same group.
-Battle:
This was a hoot! Very very fun. I was glad that I saw my ninja actually be able to build TP at a reasonable rate, they were very evasive and blindga, paralyzega, etc... made it very fun to get some hits landed. Rapid de-buffs made it difficult to keep re-raise (and shadows) up. Anyone nearby can get all of their buffs taken away, which is rough for recoveries. I think RR shouldn't be dispel-able. Food gone? That's fine, I can eat tacos instead of salad, or sushi and buns, rather than pizza and curry. Also some sort of safe zone is something I agree with.

Job:
RDM99/BLM49
Area:
Hall of Skies
System:
Seems like Einherjar crossed with The Swarm. Not much more to be said, there: the concept is pretty sound.
The reward system isn't final, so I can't really comment on that--but the fact that you earn about 20 Legion Points a kill and the items offered are 1000 points each worried me a little...
The Auspicious Entities seem to have limited gains since only one temporary item is yielded from a kill--and it goes to the person who deals the killshot. Given that this is supposed to be an 18 to 36-person event, any temp item of the caliber I'd seen (short of a Primeval Brew, anyway) won't have much of an effect on the fight. I'd suggest either to increase the frequency of the Entities, or--in the case of non-AOE, non-Primeval Brew/Fanatic's Drink/Fool's Drink-caliber items--have the temp item drop to the entire party whose member dealt the killshot.
Battle:
The same problems are evident with high-HP targets here as with early-revision Einherjar. Dealing enough damage, I suspect, is going to be incredibly problematic for anyone looking to clear both waves plus the boss within the time limit. I ballpark that HP for the first couple of waves of NMs need to be lowered by at least one-third for an average (non-"uber") group of 36 players to be able to stand a chance at clearing a hall in time. (I personally don't care if the devs have to raise NM attack power or enfeebling potency or resistance to do it--strategy should go before mindless attacking in this case.)
Other:
I'm a bit disappointed that the actual map hadn't been changed from the original "The Last Stand" area. It still looks like Horutoto Ruins--or Mordion Gaol, even (heck, the exit lobby even looks like a Mordion Gaol cell). I would've hoped that the devs were at least looking to reskin it, but with their limited resources I suppose it was too much to hope for. It's only a small thing, though.
Good run! It was an awesome event, let's do more like this at some point!

Battle:
The difficulty bar honestly feels set very high. Not impossible, but our testing has shown you need to be VERY organized to make this happen. I have a feeling only a limited selection of jobs are going to be percieved as valuable.
Once we really hunkered down and hammered out a strategy, things went fairly well but we were still unable to fully overcome the challenge. at least clearing the first wave seems to be the only thing required for progression.
System:
It would be nice if we could create multiple legion pages in order to allow unique group configurations to be formed more easily. For the test event, after a horrible faliure the first run, we decided to split up into three groups of 12 to take each of the three monsters separately and at the same time (this proved to be a decent strategy, though not perfect). It was rather difficult to set this up, because we had to plan it out beforehand, form two alliances, then reconfigure into the 3-alliance group setup we wanted after entering the lobby area. It would have been better if we were able to configure our parties the way we wanted before entering. The good news is this strategy enabled us to successfully clear the first wave, albeit not with enough time left to have a chance at killing anything more.
Other stuff:
I don't like the look of this place visually. We go to the "hall of skies," we expect the arena to have a theme that matches the description. Instead, we get an area that looks like GM Prison. I also somewhat expected unique music, though I suppose that the current audio/visual experience may not be complete.
Finally: In an event with a strict time limit, the second wave of monsters takes a fairly significant time to appear. The wait time should be reduced or eliminated, as players should know going into this that when the first wave is defeated, new monsters will spawn- they can move the group to an appropriate location before finishing the last monster.
I'm a little worried by the way Rukirii was eyeing me during the event... :p

-System:
A safe area is needed for re-raise purposes.
The range of certain AoE attacks can be considered excessive given the small size of the arena.
While there is a 18 person option the current difficulty doesn't seem to make this option possible to complete - 7 NMs in 30 minutes seems impossible.
-Battle:
I was pleasantly surprised to be hitting for decent damage as WAR even though I didn't have an Empyrean/Relic/Mythic weapon.
The AoE attacks make me question going to this event as a melee job.

-Battle:
SMN magic damage felt a bit limited in the fight due to the tight timeframe. I found it hard to go over 1K damage regardless of what mob I fought or what avatar I used. I suspect SMN would be quite powerful in large numbers but I do not want Legion to become Walk of Echos.

-System:
Once the alliance wipes, there seems to be almost no way to recover. This is mainly due to the fact that there is no safe location to rest after being defeated, and if a single alliance member aggros a mob, the entire alliance is tagged with enmity as well.
30 minutes did not seem like an adequate amount of time to complete an entire Legion battle. The enemies have the HP, Defense, and Attack power of an HNM, so it took my group 20 minutes to take out the first wave of the 3 HNM, which left only 10 minutes for the second wave of the next 3 enemies plus the boss for the third wave.
The amount of drops and Legion Points awarded per HNM defeat seems a bit low in its current state. However, we were unable to defeat the second and third waves in the allotted time, so we weren't able to verify the drop/point quantity for those waves of HNM.
-Battle:
The battles were an exciting change of place, but the AoE damage may need to be lowered. Similar with the issue in Voidwatch, only the tanks are able to get close to the HNM without being KOed by a single AoE effect.
Some Legion battles had enemies with capabilities to charm or cause instant death to players within an AoE radius seemed a bit overpowered. Because there are three HNM battles going on at once, it is difficult to hold or manage the other HNMs other than the one your group is focusing on, so once another group is hit by AoE charm or death, it can become quite chaotic.
The constant AoE dispel from the Adamantoise-type mobs seemed to be a little redundant. At the very least, food should not be removed from the Tortoise Song ability.
Other feedback and opinions
The map/battle area could use a unique appearance other than looking like just another section of the Horutoto Ruins.
The community reps did a great job organizing this Legion testing event. I look forward to future events as well!

To everyone that made it out to our Legion test server event, thanks so much! It was a lot of fun :)
We definitely hope to do it again soon, so if you missed out on last week’s event, try and come out for a future test server event!
We passed off all the feedback that you submitted and below are some comments from the development team in regards to some points we have seen mentioned.
BGM
While it might be a bit difficult to get a totally brand-new BGM in right away, it might be possible to have something similar to Moblin Maze Mongers where you can select your BGM from a list of tracks upon entry. We will be proactively looking into this.

We are currently adjusting the pathing range and detection range, so there will be a safe spot; however, in cases where you use the entire battlefield to fight, it may be difficult to get positioned properly. You’ll be able to recognize the spot where the monsters won’t come by looking at their behavior when their name turns yellow after a wipe.
Time interval after defeating a wave of monsters
We’ve read some comments asking to quickly spawn the next set of monsters since time is of the essence. It’s definitely possible to adjust the time; however, this will ultimately reduce the time where you can recast buffs and recover MP, so this really depends on how many requests there are for this.
As a side note, we do not have any plans of fully restoring HP/MP when the first wave is defeated.
Legion Points
There were some comments saying that 10 points for one kill is too low. The points that you receive are not a static value. The point values actually go up as you kill more enemies, starting with 10 points for 1 kill, 20 points for 2 kills, and 30 points for 3 kills. Clearing the first wave of monsters you would get 60 points and by defeating the second wave you would get a total 210 points.
As a guideline we are planning so that if you are able to defeat one wave of monsters in each of the four halls as well as the fifth hall and do this twice, you will have enough points to exchange them for an item.
As the development team works on adjusting the system and we prep for the next test server event, please continue to submit your feedback :)

These should go hand-in-hand. Once we have a safe spot, we have somewhere to recast buffs/wait for weakened. If the mobs spawn straight away, we wait in the safe spot and make our own decision on when we want to attack.

Howdy!
I wanted to let you all know about some plans for Legion in regards to loot.
In addition to the items you can see on the test server currently, we are planning to add materials for new synthesis recipes (*) that will be added.
(Synthesis materials that were dropping were not very desirable and they have been removed.)
One more thing, in regards to various equipment stats.
There are items that we have been revamping a little bit. I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up for game breaking stats, so please consider these slightly reworked items, but nothing that will make them into a completely different item.
*I will be letting you all know some information related to synthesis soon.

Please do reduce/eliminate the wait time. If there is a safe spot, everyone can gather there just as the last mob is being defeated if the players do need the extra time. In a content that is a race against the slot, time you spend waiting is time you'd feel is being wasted.

I don't even have a character on the test server at the moment, yet I feel 110% sure that the removed materials were primarily logs. Logs have become the death and taxes of FFXI.
Any change to reduce the number of logs that appear in people's logs is welcome.

In my previous post I mentioned what we were thinking to do in regards to a new BGM for Legion. Well, it seems like we’ve got a ton of players requesting a new jam to do battle to (I definitely understand, nothing gets me pumped more than good jams!), so I’d like to give you a bit more information on this.
It’s not a problem of whether we can or can’t make a new track; we just have a concern that the version update size would become too large. However, if there are a large amount of requests for a new BGM, we will try our best to look into methods to have one.

I absolutely love the music produced for Final Fantasy XI, and if you are asking whether we would like to have a brand new track with the only expense being possible update filesize, I would love to have a new piece created for Legion. All of the music added to date has been good to amazing, and you bet your Behemoth Hide we would love to hear more. If it doesn't hold back the development and patch release cycle, please consider creating a new BGM!
P.S. How is it that the Abyssea battle music, which many players listen to almost non-stop in the game, still manages to be awesome and likeable? I'm sure some players are annoyed by it now, hearing it constantly, but I still think it's great.
P.P.S. Before I get too off-topic, I would also like to say the Wings of the Goddess ending music is just amazing. I was listening to it again the other day. I'm really glad you guys did something special again for that ending theme. I hope we can expect something like this out of the next big story expansion. :)

It's been a long time since we've had a new music track (frankly, I was disappointed Voidwatch never got one), I doubt people would mind the additional 3-5mb it takes to include something fresh, especially in 2012 when that only takes at most 30 seconds on the lower-end connections of today.
Speaking of new stuff, when the heck will we finally get to see the zone pictured in the roadmap thread (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/16211-FINAL-FANTASY-XI-Roadmap-for-October-2011-%E2%80%93-March-2012)?

New BGM. I think I speak for everyone when I say we'll wait an extra few minutes on the version update to enhance our game experience.

Go for the new BGM. Always nice to hear something new. Not that the old tracks are bad, but new music does help to distinguish content from other content. Makes it feel fresher

It depends what the compromise is going to be to allow the space for the new BGM. Maybe release the update without it, then wait 2 weeks and release the BGM separately?

Your reasoning behind not releasing a new BGM is that the version update will be 3MB larger? Seriously?

Just about everyone has high speed internet these days. I'm sure an extra audio track wont drastically lengthen the version update by much, if at all.

There are two new BGMs added from the last version update, at least to the live server.

I came across this exchange between Mocchi, Ito, and Fujito that I thought you might be interested in…
1483
Ito: This is pending, but this is what we have right now in terms of equipment that we are trying to implement along with the introduction of Legion as well as the synthesis skill cap adjustments.
Mocchi: Oh snap! These stats are nuts! STR and AGI +8, attack, accuracy, subtle blow, haste +4%, DOUBLE ATTA…
Fujito: Whoa hey! We’ve just begun testing on this stuff, so there is still a high chance that the stats and values may change, so watch what you’re sayin’! Everyone, I apologize, this is still in the planning stages.
Mocchi: Right…pending. It’s pending.

Too bad that piece has spikes on it, and anything non-DRK that has spikes is an instant turn off.

STR+8 AGI+8? hold the phone!
it's pending. Clearly, it'd be too powerful as described. I mean, haste+4% on top of that? Sweet Altana, my moogle's pompom would explode out of sheer awesomeness.

That was also part of a post that gave a nice round-up of all the dev posts in the last week, grouped into categories (battle adjustments, job adjustments, etc). I'd rather hoped that that might be a new policy that would get used on the EN side as well, but apparently not. Of course I don't know if that's a regular thing on the JP side, since I only really began paying attention to their tracker in the last week or two.
