View Full Version : BST merits & Anwig Salade @99 - input needed!

Was wondering if anybody has an up-to-date list of jugs and the level they cap at? Not considering Beast Affinity of course.
I have 5/5 atm but my thought was something like: if the jugs I normally use cap at 99, they gain no benefit from Beast Affinity, so I might as well get some other merit.
And was thinking about Feral Howl, something which is not particularly useful maybe, but that I always loved.
So, anybody knows what level do GorefangHobs, DipperYuly and FaithfulFalcorr naturally cap at?
Second question, anwig salade. I'm about to change my Salade (previously was a WS option for PUP/MNK/NIN) into a Waltz recast-2 for my DNC. I have a free space for second slot, and was wondering what to get. Been thinking about Pet: Damage taken-10% and Pet: Haste 5%. Leaning for the second.
Would be useful when I'm getting stones on BST in Dynamis, and could be useful on PUP since I still need to cap melee skill.
Opinions?

I am really not sure about this but, RQ jugs are the Lv they are listed as unless merits and gear are applied, Hq jug are another story.

The only list I could find is THIS ONE (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Beastmaster_Jugs).
It reports level 99 for GorefangHobs, FaithfullFalcorr and DipperYuly.
Altough I'm unsure wether or not it takes into account Beast Affinity merits.
If it does NOT then I kinda answered my own question and can delete Beast Affinity merits for something else.

The Jug Pet list from the link you gave is accurate and the testing was performed without Beast Affinity merits (if you want to read the source material for that info, it can be found scattered in this thread on ZAM (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=262&mid=1298635397162868956)).
To sum up the findings, capped jug pets are as follows:
NurseryNazuna 86
CraftyClyvonne 90
PrestoJulio 93
SwiftSieghard 94
AudaciousAnna 95
MailbusterCetas 95
Everything else is uncapped.

wow, then I should really rework my merits. Anybody still keeping Beast Affinity merits atm?

There's other augments then pet: 5haste/-10pdt? Peeople still waste ACP and MKT gear on other jobs? No realy. I am seriously asking this. Did they refuse to level past 75 or something?

Anwig Salade remained the best WS headpiece for several ws/jobs until a while ago.
Inside abyssea it still is the best for a few jobs.
The other options I have atm are either better or very close to my Anwig configuration, and so I decided to get a Waltz recast-2 for my DNC since it's pretty unique.
Still, I have a free slot for second space and hence why I'm here wondering what to get.
Leaning for the 5% haste atm.

If you want 5% pet haste, perhaps Spurrer Beret (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Spurrer_Beret) could fill that role for you. BST and PUP can wear it, which I think suits your purpose. :)
Pet: Haste+5% Damage Taken -10% is the only worth a shit option for that piece on BST.

Oh.. completely forgot about Spurrer Beret. I'm kinda back to square one now, dont know what to get as second augmentation :(

I'd just go with Pet: Damage Taken -10%. The two augments don't compliment each other, but both are unique and useful.

The highest viable Curing Waltz is Curing Waltz III, which has a ten second recast time. A two second reduction on a ten second recast is substantial. Recasts are a much larger limiter on Waltzes than TP cost, so the reduction is also important.

Exactely!
And it also works on stuff with much larger recasts like Healing Waltz or, for DNC main, Divine Waltz II and Curing Waltz IV and V (altough you shouldn't really use those 2 often).
Getting the +2CHR/+3%Fastcast is another possibility I considered, but for the moment I ruled it out simply because with the current state of the game mechanics, CHR and VIT have a very minimal impact on Waltzes, much less than VIT/MND/Healingskill have on Cure potency. So +2 CHR would change literally nothing on the final output of my Waltzes, so yeah... not really worth. I'd much rather get something I can use in specific situation on my PUP or my BST.
Pet: Damage taken -10% sounds a good option indeed, since I can get 5% on spurrer beret (need to go camp that guy! Is the drop rate that low? Don't really feel like camping NMs for weeks like I used to in the old days...)

I use Spurrer Beret and Anwig, during different situations. I did the pdt+haste Anwig and I switch between them depending on wether I am meleeing or not (same deal with Shepherd's Chain and Ferine Necklace).
Without switching to Spurrer, it's almost impossible to hit the haste cap while wearing Anwig, and even that is considering the terrible 2% haste axe.
