View Full Version : Problem with new Payment Options

Using the new payment options, I get an error,

"An error has occurred.
Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.
For details, please contact the Square Enix Support Center.
(Error code: 601)"

It has been determined that this stems from SE billing $0.01 to verify the card, the problem with this, is quite a few automated fraud detection systems will pick this as fraudulent (such as my own) and thereby, not allowing the payment. I've tried to contact my bank about this, but according to them, they're not sure if they can allow the payment to go through. So, if there was some way to get SE to "fix" this, I figured here was as good a place as any.

I am having the same problem, and emailing se doesn't help either. Need to call them directly, I didn't have the time to do that yet, will call them when I have time.

If you're using NoScript or AdBlock in Firefox, or their equivalents in Chrome, try turning them off. If that doesn't work, use an inferior browser like IE ^^;

How does that fix the credit card detecting a $.01 charge as fraudulent? x.x

I thought it was the "error 601," which I read on another forum that the person turned off adblock and noscript to get around. I can't test myself, since I'm letting my accounts lapse this month; I'll be deativated any time now ^^;

I've done nothing to any of my accounts, just left them to carry on being paid the old way. This month is the cut off period I guess?

If it's an error that turning off noscript fixes maybe it's trying to pop up verified by visa or securecode?

I had the same issue, noscript blocks the third party site that it is trying to go to. I just allowed the site and didn't do anything to ad block.

Edit: it took my NON VBV VISA

I've completely deactivated Adblock, and NoScript, and even used IE, same error, as I posted in the OP, it's because of how it charged me. It's still giving me the exact same error, which, as I said before, was because it was detecting the charge of 1 cent as fraudulent.

It's noscript. I got blocked after disabling adblock and enabling the SE site, but in fact, once you get the screen where you enter the CC number, you'll see that noscript is blocking another site.
That's the site that verifies the card. You have to have verisign plus this new site unblocked. Trust me. I got the 601 error 6-7 times until I unblocked the last site.

could be another local security option getting in the way--might need to white-list the server address elsewhere. Someone had reported the server that was getting blocked for them was https://na.gcsip.com/. The address may follow a similar pattern for other regions (like https://eu.gcsip.com/ ).

It can vary across different apps/suites. Might need to go into an advanced/expert config menu to get at some sort of exception/ignore list, or safe site/trusted site list and add the URL to it. As for settings, it might be something in the advanced settings for your browser where scripting/java/security is managed--things like pop-up blocking, or cross-domain scripting and such might be defaulting to automatically disable/block the activity and you need to set it to prompt or enable/allow. Could simply be a security plugin that is blocking it (like a pop-up blocker or other kind of security plugin that is filtering content).

Here's what happened to a family member's account:

In August of 2011 his account was doubled billed by C&B and remained deactivated for 1 month before he could activate it again. He was never refunded for the double billing or loss of one month's service.

Again, this month, the same C&B FFXI subscription double billing error occurred. When trying to reactivate the characters, C&B again double billed. VISA saw the double billings as fraud, which is good. Trying to get a refund from C&B is next to impossible. I put his account on my credit which was not hit with any double billing errors. My family member has more than adequate funds on his VISA card. We both cancelled C&B FFXI subscription payments and switched over to the new SE direct credit card payment. Additionally, he had to call his bank to cancel his credit card and issue him a new credit card because of the multiple C&B billing errors which occurred this month.

Meanwhile, if any of you are still getting 601 and 901 errors with Noscript after choosing to Allow Scripts Globally, you may need to use a different credit or debit card. Your credit card company or bank may have flagged transactions for that card due to C&B fraud billings. I am calling the C&B double billings fraud because when those double billings do go through like it did in August 2011, someone is profiting from the extra payments.
