I'm not sure how it is on other servers, but could someone please explain to me why I'm seeing a huge base of players lv. 50+ with no damn subjob? I'm just curious if I missed something or no one has informed these poor saps that they could actually be stronger and more useful.

FFXI is too easy, so people are levelling mules without subjobs for the extra challenge?

They are levelling forum trolls that people will take seriously.

That would certainly pose a challenge. I was just boggled when I saw that. I was in Garlaige a few weeks ago getting LB1 items and I saw a level 55MNK with no sub and he was nearly eaten alive by beetle, which conned at EP to me at 50. I pulled it off of him, thinking he was like 35-40.

No one wants to help anymore.

Every so often I see shouts for all the Genkai's (well besides maat fight & onward) they nearly NEVER get any help unless they say "(|Reward:100k|)" or more or less gil...depending on how much they bought :/ (I assume bought cause I don't think many newbs would get into abyssea yet...much less cucor farm)

This game is not newb friendly anymore.

Yeah cause a 100k is hard to farm outside of abyssea.

So basically if you don't have the gil, you don't get the help. And if whoever helps you doesn't get something out of it you get ditched.

Not like it matters anymore, with all these bad updates they just wanna shove everyone who has not quit yet off FFXI to go to FFXIV.

I had a friend who got bored with the game and decided to level up his favorite jobs on a new character and never unlock subjob. I don't think h'es playing now but he basically showed how certain jobs don't really need a subjob at all to perform. I'd still say "get one anyway, you never know when those benefits might come in handy" but he was basically in it for a new kind of challenge.

Wow you fail harder then I thought. I was calling you out on assuming that a level 50 would have to buy gil to offer 100k to shout for help. The fan base of FF11 will not move over to 14 in mass just like how the fan base of EQ didn't move to EQ2.

Try harder. Troll.

More & more are quitting FFXI to join other games that are doing better. Cause golly the Dev team LISTENS rather then just listing to 1 countries ideas.

watch Shouts, 1 person shouting for... G2 for an hour, nothing. they offer gil be it earned, bought or farmed and people suddenly flock to help.

Getting anyone's help for ANYTHING outside Abyssea is like pulling teeth.

Never fear, you helped them right?...right?

Same as the rest of us, you can't be bothered. Anyway I don't know what game you've been playing but it's always been this way, it was always pulling teeth to get help with stuff from randoms. FFXI was never, ever newbie friendly.

While I will agree that it was always been pulling teeth to get help on this game, I will say that she has helped a lot of people with Genkai stuff for free.

I've only seen this once so far personally, and it was someone who asked to join my shell. I was honestly confused as to why someone level 48 wouldn't have a subjob. Turns out he didn't know how, and had no idea the wiki existed. Once we pointed him in the right direction he had his subjob, and knew that he needed a levelcap done far enough in advance to get help for it from the shell.

It's never been easy to get help in this game without a helpful shell or friends that are higher level. It's never been easy to figure out what you need to do on your own without knowing the wikis exist (especially if you're a console player, or back before official windowed mode existed). I've always done my best to help for free if I see a shout when I'm not already promised to something else.

Speak for yourself. Oh wait, that's what you're doing. Just because you're antisocial doesn't mean everyone else is.

Although honestly, I can't relate to what Tohihroyu is saying. I still see people getting help all the time (and we're on the same server), and I myself also always help people whenever I have the time, be it genkai, missions, quests or whatever doesn't require a shitload of farming. I also talk to a lot of new players and they say how helpful people on here are compared to other games. Sure, it doesn't always go so well (event times or whatever), but generally after a while people will get help on here. That's been my experience for the last seven years and hasn't changed until now.

How in the hell do people not know how to look stuff up on the internet in this day and age? There is no sympathy to be had for people who insist on wearing their pants on their head.

Honestly, a similar thought passed through my mind as well. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt after seeing the initiative he's taken since being pointed in the right direction.

I see too many new players demand that their hand be held for them, who then end up rage quitting because no one will walk them to each quest NPC they need to talk to or hand-hold them through mobs they can easily solo.

Honestly I don't think it's that people don't know, I think it's that you can get away with it these days (people leveling alts are the worst for lazyness). In the past if you were a level 40 <job> with no sub nobody would invite you, so you had to do these things. These days you can get invited to a GoV alliance with no sub, no weapon and a party hat on.

This is true. I've been in a few GoV parties with people wearing event items, swinging away with Christmas bells. Though to be honest, I'd rather see someone half ass it than just stand there and leech exp.

It's true, finding help is hard pressed unless you actually know people. I came back and couldn't find a soul to assist me, which sucks because level retarded aside, I probably would have been a huge asset to them later on. This game used to be all about community. I'm almost tempted to start an LS devoted to old school ideals. Help the weak get strong, earn your subjob while fleeing from Goblins in the dunes. That kind of crap. I doubt it would succeed, but at least my karma would be good.

Maybe.

I took a THF up to 90 with no SJ to help out with TH on empyrean NMs... turned out to be a waste of time mostly... but at least I made a few mil off it.

Had fun asking the dumb questions about subjobs every abyssea party I got... "how do you guys have 2 jobs? is it a hack?" - amazed I never got kicked...

Wish I had thought of this when I made my two alternate accounts and got subjobs. I would have had so much fun.
Though as far as alternate accounts go I often wonder how people do it. I care too much about each one and want them to be the best because... I actually plan to use them instead of having them leech for stuff.

Wow you are fail. Thats the way the game has always been there was never a golden age of FFXI only a time that people look back on that they didn't know how the world worked. A good exp of this was one of my LS mates complaining about people shouting to buy/sell RA/EX gear, he never seen the silent auctions of the old HNM or how the people used to go striaght to HNM leaders and buy items like kitty pants, w.legs.

lol u mad bro?

Sorry but unlike you what I don't miss about "old days" is big EGLS"s who pay for $1000 bots to camp HNM's & how the leaders would give away that so called special gear to the mithra who sucks the leaders cock (be it a manthra or mithra is no matter) daily.

As for the actual topic.

Maat fight advice is now just "lol level whm, whm maat is easy bro."
No one bothers with subjobs cause I guess its too much work, less time for getting your 99 R/M/E right?!

You say its the same? funny. back in 09 newb-75 there was always parties, for drg bird parties where prime in Eron & woodlands, whats that you say? "wuts party? ffxi is da same bro stfu & go to WoW" the only time say drks would not get party invites was for no /thf or /nin till sam update. Sure it sucked waiting hours for parties but then (if they decided) they could make one, it would go faster if the seeker was the sync. Hah, Level sync there's something thats never used unless its for Trials. This game is going to hell in a handbasket~

And sorry dearie I wont be quitting till this game fully tanks & boots everyone off the servers.

Toodles~ enjoy the shitstorm.

Reading fail. I used that to show that selling gear/services has always been in the game, remeber the merc blm LSes and those same BLMs mercing DM. Everything happening now took place just the same. Only time people helped with random shouts in mass with no reward offered was when they needed it to. That has always been part of the game.

Another thing people seem to forget many may be doing it for the LuLz. I did that back in the day with a alt with a group of friends. We got to level 50 before we got bored with it. Also maat was never hard, he only hard for one job and that was pure luck if his AI rolled Aero spam during CS or dia in CS.
