Peding update/implementation:
Crafting cap increases.
Improvements to elemental spirits.
Scaling BP: Wards with summoning skill.
Universal mog storage access.
Fixing cruor buffs wearing after DC.
Atma/atma set favorites menu.
Banish IV and Banishga III.
Losing tp upon weapon skilling "too far away"
UI improvments/enhancements to allow for seeing previously invisible stats among other tweaks.
Meteor.
Relic horn's special/specific song.
Started this thread because im just curious as to how many outstanding promises they have pending the players, i'm also interested in compiling stuff they retracted on or deemed impossible to implement after saying they would.

Since there seem to be quite a few comments and feedback on the proposed changes, we’d like to share our current thoughts and direction on the topic.
• Reinstatement of taxes and the temporary suspension of the auction house
In regards to taxes, we received a lot of feedback about reinstating taxes not only in Port Jeuno, but in Ru’Lude Gardens, or all of Jeuno, as well.
Also in regards to the auction house, since there are quite a few cases where players would check the AH while waiting for shouts or while chatting with their linkshell/party, we believe this is also one cause of congestion. Of course, we do not believe that this is the main cause, however.
• Create multiple Abyssea-related NPCs and seal storage NPCs
As was pointed out, often used NPCs are another reason for area congestion. We understand making multiple NPCs would act as a congestion countermeasure, however, the amount of content that would need to be developed and tested is comparatively high, and we would like to take our time to deal with this properly.
This doesn’t mean that we don’t want to do this, but as a result of us duplicating or moving NPCs, there is a concern that game freezing or other problems might crop up, so this isn’t the type of countermeasure we can implement right away.
• /yell area expansion
We determined that expanding the areas that are covered by /yell would have a positive effect on relieving congestion.
Looking at the current level of usage and lag conditions, we are looking into adding covered areas. However, as previously stated, since this places stress on the server, it isn’t realistic to make this possible for every area.
• In-game bulletin board
This was addressed previously in another thread, but since it is the same answer, I will just pull the quote from there:
• Whitegate/Al Zahbi/Chocobo Circuit bazaar taxes and auction house charges
We are currently looking into these areas for possible adjustments. However, considering that we are planning to revamp content such as Nyzul Isle and Einherjar as well as expand the FoV/GoV areas, we feel that there is too high of a risk associated with changing these other aspects.
While we consider the above points, we will add Ru’Lude Gardens to our list of possible adjustments, and monitor it a bit.
We are also concerned that Ru’Lude Gardens would then become more congested then the current Port Jeuno situation, so we feel that the primary task is to lay the groundwork for making it easy to separate these areas.
We realize that each World has different trend and differences in peak times, and not everyone is going to share the same sentiments about this. However, based on the fact that it may not be congested for you currently, but that there is a chance congestion may develop again, please let us know your feedback.
i'm still waiting for them to Close the AH and give us back that sweet sweet Tax

(Not sure if the last two can count as "promises", they just said they're interested and are looking into it.. don't have to add them if you don't feel they deserve to be on the list)

Although I can't recall if square ever specifically mentioned it or it was just mined out of the .dat on the test server but a new raise spell Dubbed by players Arise.
Edit:The latter part about arise is definably true I just can't recall if square ever specifically said they were going to add that spell.
bet the reason they didn't give us charmna yet is cause a Whm/sch would just AoE spam it and make some fight alot easier

Didn't they say something about allowing the compass/weather icon to show up when in battle? Thought I read that somewhere a while ago.
They kind of did, if you press y/+ key (or is it x on the top of the controler?) while engaged it'll bring the compass/clock back.
yeah, though originally they stated that they were only temporary measures, not that its a bad method of fast equipping atmas. its still something they said they were going to do and haven't further commented on.
also about the higher tier elegy, they only mentioned that they might give the relic horn a song specific to it, i might be wrong however been a while since i saw that discussion pretty sure it was just player conjecture that it would be a higher tier elegy, in any case if any one has a link that can prove/disprove me on that please assist?

Eh? "Charmna" would be the whm spell to remove charm from party members, not a charm spell.
Anyway, I believe that some of the things brought up here, were never promised us by SE. I can't for the life of me find their post now, but it was one where they mentioned Cait Sith and Atomos, charmna, war ability to change damage type and other stuff. Fairly certain it was stated that these weren't guaranteed to be implemented, only suggestions.

That ship has sailed, it's already failed and dead. V2 isn't going to resurrect the rotting corpse, sadly they won't accept it until the last moment. I just hope that last moment isnt the point the XI playerbase gives up.

And what do you mean with BP:Wards scaling with summoning skill?
As far as I know they already do. Well... the lenght time of the buff does, not the strenght of the buff.

If this was something simple to do they would have done it ages ago.
Means it's something complicated > something that requires a lot of time/effort to get solved > time stolen from solving/fixing other things.
So yeah, as much as I hate broken things, abyssea is so old nowadays that, since they have limited resources, I'd much rather have them fix something else.
Did they ever promise they would have fixed that problem btw? I don't recall that.

These are slowly coming!
New chat log, new macros, in next patch we'll also be able to set a couple of other things (can check yourself on the test server)

This announcement was very generic and never said anything specific about this.
If I recall it was just a post from Rukkirii saying "the stats aren't defined yet! don't whine about the levl95 horn, wait 'til you see the level99 one! There might be surprises!" or something like that, which LED someone to think it would have been something uberspecial while appearently it was just songs+4.
Personally I'm still waiting for when they promised to make so Boost affected Chakra on MNK (it's in the job manifesto)

It's in SE's job adjustment manifesto from July last year, where they listed "example adjustments" for each job. No promises being made I guess.
Edit: although when I read more carefully, it looks like at least one of the example adjustments for most jobs has been implemented already.

They gave us another manifesto like 3 or 4 years ago, and only part of those tentative ideas made it through.
One example? They wanted Perfect Doge to enhance SA and TA. There are many others.
Can't really consider those as "promises" SE made to us.

The DRK JA that removes TP gain for a large boost to standard hit damage.
That thing about balancing the game.
To add to the OP - merited 2hrs.
Would really like more additional ways to spend/store merits.
Make new trials merit based, 1000 merits to be able to put a single extra point in a job merit category when you're already 10/10 - merit points for daily tally points. iduno, something.

Never. It;s one of the most asked for -nas but they never said they would implement it.
Banish IV and banishga III however they made a specific reply to on white mage boards that they have plans to implement it but it's still being balanced.
Edit: IDx to be fair merited two hours are on the timeline and aren't suppose to be implemented on the test server until march.

They did say it (in Port Jeuno only), but they haven't done it. They also said they would remove AH NPCs from port jeuno, but they haven't done either of these things yet. Maybe they decided it wasn't necessary.

Do you really DC often enough to make this 'terrible'? I think at worst you're never more than a 2 minute run from a flux, and it takes a further 30 secs to warp, run to cruor NPC, choose all, run back to flux and warp again. 5 minutes at the absolute most, and I doubt most people DC more than once a week/month. Hardly makes for a priority when there are real problems that need fixing.
If you DC so often that you feel this is such a high priority, I suggest that you prioritise fixing your own connection >.>
Mostly bored and curious and a bit tired of the main current top threads, if any one can provide links that affirm or deny what ive posted in the OP please add in, i will update the OP for accuracy in a bit.
@the cruor buff deal, makes no sense that atmas and cruor buffs function so differently that they cant adjust the cruor buffs, further more i'm not really interested in having anything done about whats posted in the original, just started realizing that there has been alot of empty or pending promises, was curious to compile a list of them.
@the atma select menu, what we have now was only meant to be a temp fix, though honestly im fine with how it functions now but they never gave an update about leaving the menu as is or if the improved menu was still in development, frankly i could care less at this point.
@Babekeke i do know people who do, one of our regular members recently moved and his new place's connection is crap.

And, this is Random but... I know SE hates PLD but...Why Holy II over Banish III? it cause WHM don't have Banish IV & Banishga III? oh wait I know the answer...
Oh! & to add to this though I can't find the topic, our NPC fellows where supposed to be able to equip full AF armor sets...though that might have been a rumor. If its not how would the armor without the stats (as no matter what your NPC has on its just for show) effect Balance? would people QQ at seeing a GKT using npc in whm AF?

Thanks for the advice. I've had this problem for years, but it never occurred to me that I should do something about it. I just assumed that SE would come by my neighborhood and fix the cable lines eventually.
Good news. After reading your post, I quit my job, dumped my girl, and moved to japan, just to ensure a better connection to FFXI. Now SE doesn't have to waste all that time on fixing the cruor buffs. YAY! :)

Where and when did they say it was just a temp fix?
Tbh I doubt they ever meant it that way.
If you remember first they gave us the "reinfuse last set" option, then on the following patch they added the 10 last selected Atmas menu, after asking us users to cast our vote among 2 different possibilities (of course I liked the other more than the current one :p)

The whole "Gjallarhorn Specific Song" thread came about after a few lvl cap increase updates had passed because Gjallarhorn was losing a lot of its luster that it originally had at 75.
A few ideas were bounced around, but Massacre Elegy essentially seemed the most viable and suitable to be added to Gjallarhorn.
And then this was posted... (edited to get to the good parts)
Will Massacre Elegy be added?
We have plans to. However, when considering the stats, we are planning to make it so this isn’t a song that can be used by just anyone.
Add a song that enhances magical accuracy
Since you can already enhance your magical accuracy through the use of a lot of equipment, we are thinking it would be more beneficial to give party members a different kind of song effect.
(For example, perhaps a song that reduces an enemy’s magical defense, etc.)
Also in response to your feedback about the seeming lack of power of Gjallarhorn, the development team mentioned that there is a difference in song accuracy between Gjallarhorn and Daurdabla, and when casting songs on enemies, Gjallarhorn wins out. During the next version update it will also be possible to further enhance the Gjallarhorn.
So as of now, we don't really know how Massacre Elegy will be added (strong speculation for Gjallarhorn but who knows! All speculation :(), but Brds are afraid that if it were to be added to Gjallarhorn, it would require finishing a Stage 2 lvl99 Gjallarhorn in order to get it. Which would be ridiculous... :/
I would also like to add that SE really needs to add that MDB- debuff into the game. It was mentioned in the "Job Manifesto" and again in this post from Camate, yet we haven't heard anything more about it.
And finally, I wanted to leave that last tidbit from Camate's old post here because it shows how out of touch the dev. team is with the Bard community lol X.x
Gjallarhorn vs. Daurdabla for debuffs... was never a debate lol, a horn of any lvl (even a lvl 1, statless Flute) is significantly stronger than Daurdabla for debuff acc.

In fact my understanding is they won't have a 2nx 99 trial because iirc, the horn can't have a glow.

You don't know that for certain. :P
It would seem odd for SE not to have Stage 2 Gjallarhorn/Daurdabla trials if they don't give them Afterglow; however, I definitely feel like I wouldn't mind at all if they weren't added lol
