well more When you Could but lets not go there.
What did you use when you started? what do you use now?
i started out on an ancient PC myself, (1.2GHZ AMD Duron 512MB SD-Ram, Geforce MX400 [32MB ram]) then got the PS2 vers the same year at christmas time (in 2005) when mediaplay was going out of buissness, (only payed 40$ as it was 60% off.) upto 2007 thats what i used when i built this PC i have now (at that time it was 2.0GHZ AMD Sempron 1300 2GB DDR2-667 ram, Onboard Geforce 6200) in '09 i made upgrades (2.5GHZ AMD Aloth 64 X2 Dualcore) and recently to an ATI Radeon HD 5750
i have as well the 360 Vers when i need to Dualbox my Brother's account when im on Ifrit Server.

I started on PC also and played for seven years on PC only and then just this year I finally got an Xbox 360 and I had to get a copy of the game because of the stupid secure credit crap not taking my credit card on PC. I don't have my old account anymore anyway and needed a new one, so may as well give it a shot on Xbox. I kinda do like playing on the Xbox once and awhile, but still love PC over all for FFXI

Started playing on my brothers PC when I used to share an account with him. Then I got my own PS2 and played on that. Now since I have my own computer I play on PC with my PS2 controller.

was deployed when the game launched in the U.S. so never got it for PS2. I started on PC then got it for Xbox360 also. Both are great but i just cant stand the Xbox controller for this game.

I play with probably the most unusual configuration. I play on Windows 7, but running Mac hardware in bootcamp, with a PS3 controller being emulated as an Xbox controller, hooked up to my livingroom TV. It took a bit to get that all setup but I love it ^^

I'm on my Laptop for all times, no PC or ps2/3.
One time a GM said I shouldn't play on my laptop because I would not meet the requirements... I'm fine! :D

All 3 same time.
Orginally started on ps2 burned though that got a new ps2 same thing on my third ps2 now. Only problem is ps2's usb drives don't support alot of the newer Keyboards. Orginal ps2 keyboard was the biggest pos i ever used on ps2. Sharkboard was awesome but Saddly it was discontinued shortly after it was out from what i was told by game stores.
Xbox 360. looks a million times better then my ps2 did works better due to controller lay out being simlar just a bit bigger for my hands. Burned though 4 of these as well. Now im on the newer xbox with the 250 gig hd and that kinects bs. If se makes FFXI kinects friendly im quiting cuz wont be standing in front of my tv doin the stuff we do in game.
Pc. I started playing on pc in 2010. I dabbled with a buddy on comp when it was first released but found it lol to sit and play a video game all day. Anyways computer I hadbuy a for the last 10 yrs wasn't able to run FFXI. It worked perfectly fine and im to cheap to buy new one just for the abilty of playing ffxi. 2010 I got a great deal on a new laptop that I couldnt pass up. On a whim I decided to bench test to see if it would run ffxi. Its been about 8 months now and I should of switched to PC sooner.

I first tried joining last November, but after buying the PC version, I found out my credit card was not valid for the Secure Code thing. I did research and found out the 360 version did not have that feature for account registration, so I ordered a new copy of the ultimate collection online. The wait was excruciating (only 4 days, but hey I was looking forward to playing), but was glad I was able to create my account without a hitch.
Now that my account is established, I suppose I could switch to PC. But I love using the 360 controller for movement, so I'm going to wait until I buy a wired 360 controller to use on PC. Not looking forward to downloading all the updates again, though! :p

I started on 360 but then got the PC version. This is just my opinion but in order to play my job most effectively (WHM) you need that keyboard to have macros ready. Its not difficult to play with a controller but it slows you down a lot and I have almost all my spells and job abilities macro'd (lol who macros proctectra/shellra and teles) and I know where they all are. Same with my BLM.
Could I put a keyboard to my xbox....yes I could but the ability to alt+tab to get on the wiki is just needed to much. IMO

I play on both PC and Xbox360. I find it better to play on my PC when doing Abyssea, campaign battles and Beseiged. I use my 360 for other things outside those areas and also to communicate with other FFXI people.

Started on the Xbox 360, got it for the PC and played that for a week.
Then returned to playing it on the Xbox 360 when I got my Asus VH236H.
I prefer playing on consoles any day of the week.

Started on PC, then Laptop, and now on the 360.
My first time playing, the game was pretty rough on my PC. Every three times I logged on, without fail, right before the intro movie was supposed to start up, I'd get blue screened and then auto-restarted. Despite that, there are days I miss playing on the PC, but I'm pretty happy with the 360.

Have for all 3 mostly play on ps2 and pc usually to dual box but having issue using controller on pc since for some unknown reason it likes to erase the settings to let it work after a few times..Only time I use the 360 version is to update when I get a achievement.

Started @ PS2 release(mar2004) cause i had a junk computer then. Then bought a new PC for it like a year and a half later(late2005), then went to lolMicrosuck360(early2008), got peeved at it kicked it over the balcony and bought a PS3. started playing XI anew (nov 2010)on the PC again.
only thing good about the lol360 is the voice chat capabilities it has
Started on the PC and still play on it occasionally..but I prefer the 360 for ease of use and the ability to play from bed. lol Plus the voice chat to bs with friends while they play other games is nice.

Started on playstation2 with the release, then moved to Ps3 when it came out. As a long time playstation fan please for the love of Altana if your still using a Ps2 switch to Ps3. Or if you don't have a Ps3 that's compatible get a $250 pc. If you truly love this game help it remain healthy.

Started on PS2 in 2002, near the JP PS2 launch, before a PC version was available. My only computer then was a Macintosh from 1995. I didn't get a computer capable of running the game until 2006, and with all the driver troubleshooting and other Windows problems, I still play primarily on PS2, since it is more stable. I occasionally play on PC when I need to use the wiki a lot, but my second monitor is set up for TV input and mitigates that need, since I can use the wiki on the other monitor.
Only reason for PC to become primary for me would be all the unofficial mods, such as the in-game map DAT replacements. Last time I tried to primarily play on PC, SE released Wings of the Goddess and broke support for my Radeon 9600Pro, and I went from 328-30 FPS in-game to 3-10 FPS, in all zones. Buying a new graphics card for one game was not worth staying on PC when my PS2 still worked fine.

I started playing on a PS2 and still do. I've recently obtained a laptop and have been playing on it as well, now, but only because I also-recently bought a PS3... which meant I could conveniently play using my PS3 controller, haha.

Started on PS2. LAter got a new PC and used that. Jumped to XBOX360. Ditched that for my PC again. And just recently (December) my PC died (dell...). So now, I'm back to the Xbox, and I can't get used to it. I think the TV is too big for me to grasp everything thats going on. >.>

I see a lot of people talking junk about the ps2 lol, I also see those same prolonged praise the 360. Listen I know half the people that plays on the 360 have problems daily with freezing and xbox live errors not to mention buring through at least two or more consoles due to RROD. Funny how no one had a problem with the ps2 to years ago. And to all the PC owners FF11 wouldn't of gotten as far as it did without the ps2's popularity , it would of flopped like 14 is currently doing, and the only hope it really has is when its released for the ps3 and maybe the 360.

i started on a crappy pc, then played on ps2 for the longest time, then moved onto a better pc~ never went back to ps2 ever again once i saw how great a pc is for 11~ xbox doesn't even come close~ no time for constant DC or red rings~

I think you are probably right about XI, but I think you are wrong about XIV. XIV's problem is content and playability, it has nothing to do with consoles. On a side note, you act like a PC is bad o.O I don't think there is anything wrong with playing a game on PC. I have a PS2 and PS3, but still prefer the PC because I dual box and it's easier for me. But that doesn't mean I think it's bad to play on PS2, PS3 or Xbox.

'Looks at his post' hmmm I never said anything or hinted at that the PC was bad(even though I hate pc gaming). But what is bad is how people are acting like the ps2 has done nothing for FF11 and its a curse. Bottom line is the ps2, during its era, has made SE more revenue then the PC in has in 5 decades. That is Why' the ps2 is was choosen and still is a platform that hosts FF11.
But what is bad is how people are acting like the ps2 has done nothing for FF11 and its a curse.
I agree with you on this. It really pushed FFXI out into the open. I don't think it's a curse, however I do think it has become a hindrance to the games progression into a new era with new graphics etc because of it's memory problem. At the same time though, I understand why they wouldn't want to get rid of it. It's bad business to screw even a small portion of your customers ;)

Started on PC (can not remember which it was but lol it barely kept up with the game) I'm still on the PC...but have a different one which has been upgraded.
I also had the game for PS2...but the HDD took a dive and that was the end of that... Since my TV was a POS for picture value, I <3 my PC for the smoother lined graphics.^^

I started on ps2 i only got it because a friend of mine wanted me to play with him. I started around ps2 release mainly wanted hard drive/adaptor for socom/Resident evil to play online lol. but fell in love with ffxi like my friend told me I would. Went threw 2 ps2 then went to pc/xbox
Kill the PS2.

Cast quake and flood on PS2!!!
I originally started playing in may '04 on the PS2. I went thru 3 PS2's mostly for failing optical drives. Same HDD thru all 3 consoles tho. I still have it working too lol!
I switched to xbox360 (when i saw SS's of the better graphics) when it became available for it but shortly thereafter went to PC(when i built one good enough to run it).
I agree that the PS2 is the the thing that holds back the game but i don't forsee it being abandoned anytime soon if at all.

Started on PS2, then switched to 360, played on PS3 briefly when my XBox died, but for the past 4 years or so, I've been PC-only.
However POL is still installed on my PS3/360 just to get around that "Verified by Visa" garbage.

Started out on PC, then bought PS2 version as backup, and then later the 360 version, again as backup. I no longer have the PS2 version though, as I got rid of my PS2, I do have a BC PS3 though so I might reinstall it on that.
