View Full Version : Teir 2/3 VNM overcamping, suggested improvement/equalization with other empyrean's

So as of right now on Odin server, the t2 VNM's in Abys-Altepa (and the other 2 zones any time friends of mine have checked) been camped constantly for the last 30+ days, not one pop that i have been awake for has gone unpopped for longer than it takes to run to wherever the nm may be. This causes much undue and unfair distress on players that do not make a living off of the game (as many of the players I have seen camping the t2 vnm, end up shouting to sell the colorless souls from the T3 for 500k-1M gil immediately afterwards, thus promoting merc's and gilsellers, which I have always thought was something that SE was somewhat opposed to...

It seems an easy solution (there are a few solution idea's here), make the t2 and/or t3 vnm's either pop faster, or pop more(more up at one time would be prefered), and I understand that the argument has been given that "there are 3 pops for the t2/3 vnm's for these items already, which is equal to all of the other emp's, which is somewhat correct, but mostly flawed logic.

the reason being: most linkshell's will farm 1 zone per night for a few hours, 1st capping lights>farming time>farming pop items>popping nms>etc, this is mostly not possibly or realistic with VNM's, considering if you farm for 120 minutes for any other emp, you can farm (with 18 people) and easily get 18 pops in a couple of hours, and pop 3 nm's at a time (assuming people can kill with 1 party, which is possible for ALL emp nm's inside abyssea, or pop them and brew 3 at a time, then hold the brew for 3 more pops, etc), and even when there is competition, I have very rarely seen a time when all 3 ???'s where being used at once for longer than a few minutes.. With VNM's there is a farm time of at least 10-15 minutes per person, per t2, that is 180-270 minutes, just to farm pops, then at 30 minute repops, at least 540 more minutes for the same number of drops, not to mention only 1 can be popped at a time, so that has the potential to at TRIPLE that time due to congestion. So that's equivalent to 2160-2430 minutes to farm a potential 36 items (if you're lucky and have TH). 20x the amount of time to farm the same amount of items. that is 40 hours of playtime just to get 1 stage of a shield done...i personally can duo dynamis with my wife for 2 hours a night and pull in 2-300 singles a night and could finish Aegis considerably sooner than Ochain...

Thanks Dev's for listening, this is a considerable hardship on all players trying to obtain Ochain or Daurdabla, specifically non-Japanese players, because even if you wanted to degrade yourself to cheating, the only botting program that I've even heard about that works for vnm's anymore, only works with japanese software or some kind of crazy mumbo jumbo (and I have seen Japanese players walk directly over an nm without healing prior and spawn it, multiple times, so there maybe some truth to this, or it could be blind luck). There are a few counter points I'm missing here, but they mostly do not apply to the non-cheating players, also, it's not like this stage of the weapon is really hard at all, all of the VNM's can be solo'd or duo'd, and this stage doesn't even give you anything good, you still have to get 75 MORE items from nm's that are considerably harder.

so to recap possible answers to this problem that I've come up with or heard elsewhere:

1. create more t2 and t3 VNM pops per zone.

2. make the t2 and t3 VNM pops spawn faster.

3. make the key items to pop the t3's available in treasure caskets (just as many empyrean weapon nm's key items can be).

Thanks :)

P.S. off thread topic, but meh, please do not make the final relic trial 1000 items, i <3 ffxi, but that would make me, and most likely many other relic holders, that have already spent years and years making our weapons, quit the game completely. (mythics too :-)

additional note on the bot popping of these nm's, i have more reason for suspicion now, as i sat in 1 place for 45 minutes /heal'ing constantly and did not see the message that the nm had popped the entire time, so it is entirely possible that something has come out that can thwart the countermeasures that were put in place a few months back.

"I do not like this stage of the weapon is really hard at all"...yeah, I do not think*** this stage is hard...just unfairly time consuming simply because of a design flaw, not because it's actually hard.
